Guytou Posted July 30, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wish to know what is the model of close-up Elpro who possesses a turn of the screw of diameter 43 mm which screws directly on the threading of the Leica X Vario. I thought of Elpro VIb ( 4,92 dioptres) but I do not know the diameter of its threading. Thanks to you. Guy

Close, but no cigar,as they say. Well, you didn´t think Leica would miss an opportunity to introduce a new filter size instead of just using an old, readily available one, did you? Remember the 69 mm on the immortal Digilux 2 as another instance. Edited July 30, 2014 by elgenper
thighslapper Posted July 30, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 30, 2014 No idea ...... but a 49mm Marumi Achromat gives super results with a 43 to 49 step up ring ...... and as I have a T now as well it works equally well on the vario-elmar with a 52 to 49 step down ring. Schlemmer has posted a fair few images with this combo and they are super. Not expensive either.

Keith (M) Posted July 31, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 31, 2014 Hello RickP, Almost all the recent photos in close-up are taken with Raynox DCR 150 Guy Which step-down adaptor is needed to fit the DCR 150 to the X-Vario - 52mm to 43mm or 49mm to 43mm? Guytou Posted July 31, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted July 31, 2014 No adapter is necessary ! Raynox DCR 150 possesses a 43 mm turn of the screw and screws directly on the zoom of X Vario. Really excellent and without vignetting ! Guy

dkCambridgeshire Posted August 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I wish to know what is the model of close-up Elpro who possesses a turn of the screw of diameter 43 mm which screws directly on the threading of the Leica X Vario. I thought of Elpro VIb ( 4,92 dioptres) but I do not know the diameter of its threading. Thanks to you. Guy Last year I enquired with SRB Griturn about the following custom adaptors: a) Leitz Series VI (44mm x 0.75) to 49mm … (to use 4.92 diopter Elpro VIb on the X1 and X2 cameras in conjunction with the Kiwi LA 49X1 filter adaptor tube which has a 49mm filter thread ) Leitz Series VI (44mm x 0.75) to 43mm … (to use 4.92 diopter Elpro VIb on the X-Vario camera's 43mm lens filter thread) … and received the following quote: 49x0.75 external to 44x0.75 internal ) 43x0.75 external to 44x0.75 internal ) …. £63 the pair I received the adaptors within 4 or 5 weeks but they also offer an express service if required urgently. They also list Series VII adaptors from stock plus any necessary stepping rings. Last year I also made various Series VI adaptors myself http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-x1-forum/290328-q-d-coin-photography-x-vario.html which work fine … but they are not as neat as those custom-made by SRB. Guytou Posted August 2, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted August 2, 2014 OK, thank you very much for this precision, dkpeterborough. I wanted to know if it was possible to use close-up Elpro without adapter, directly on X Vario. But I believe that it is not possible. I am thus going to continue with my Raynox. dkCambridgeshire Posted August 2, 2014 Share #16 Posted August 2, 2014 OK, thank you very much for this precision, dkpeterborough. I wanted to know if it was possible to use close-up Elpro without adapter, directly on X Vario. But I believe that it is not possible. I am thus going to continue with my Raynox. Guy I recently bought a secondhand Raynox 150 (4.8 diopter) so will be interesting to compare results with those using the Elpro VIb (4.92 diopter) … but not expecting much difference. dunk
Guytou Posted August 2, 2014 Author Share #17 Posted August 2, 2014 OK and thank you, I wait for your conclusions. I think that the differences will be small. Guy
2wk Posted August 7, 2014 Share #18 Posted August 7, 2014 I use two Elpro VI-b. I attach with a Heliopan 43-44mm adapter. The adapter was tricky to find but I emailed Fotomayr in Germany and they were very quick & helpful. Thanks to Dunk for his advise, I am getting excellent macro results with these lenses.
Keith (M) Posted August 9, 2014 Share #19 Posted August 9, 2014 Only received the DCR-150 five days ago but already the combination of it, the X-Vario and EVF has become a firm favourite. Highly recommended. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
