Looking on the Leica website the following is listed - nothing new… I just downloaded the "new" firmware listed in the link you provided but I'm skeptical… It would be nice if it were confirmed!

None of the new Summarits show up in the manual lens set menu. Might a new Summarit be recognized and not be in the manual lens setting menu?

Yes - I believe only lenses that were once sold without 6-bit markings are in the manual selections.

I forgot to mention the new menu items, in particular is the Decisive Moment Critique in Review with the default option to delete.

I just spoke two Mark at Leica in New Jersey and he said he was unaware of any new firmware from Leica AG. Wishful thinking that there would be an update though

1.202 seems to be downloadable from Softpedia, but there is no mention of it on the Leica website with the other firmware downloads - the latest there is 1.196.

 

I find it very strange that a newer version would not first be released to the Leica site. Has anyone received official confirmation from Leica that a new version has been released?

I did not find anything different, and it doesn't seem to write to the card any faster, but I still use it much like a film camera - simple.

 

What was the issue with the four Advance shutter modes (standard, soft, discreet, discreet & soft)? I can check it.

I did it also on my M-E. So far it looks same as before, writing data is slow as before...... it is probably an update for new lens coding such Summarit-M f/2.4.

 

I will use more to see if the shutter locks when in discreet mode (I use to get it often with 1.196.

They seem to be the same lenses, old and new...
