jpattison Posted December 15, 2011 Share #5 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) How about this from photo.net... michael ginex , Mar 09, 2007; 09:23 p.m. Just to add my two cents to the thread, FWIW, I have an M version Televit and also have both II & III Viso's. I've used them with prism finder (OTXBO) on both the M3 and the M6. Adapters 14127f or 14167 allow use of any R body including the Leicaflex's (Standard and SL's) on the M version Televit. Just FYI, Televit works not only with the 5.6/560, 5.6/400 when using he diaphragm adapter 14137, but also with the heads of the 4.8/280 and 5/400 Telyts when the adapter 14138 is used in place of the diaphragm adapter. A true testament to Leica compatability. Which lens heads do you have? John Edited December 15, 2011 by jpattison

luigi bertolotti Posted December 16, 2011 Share #11 Posted December 16, 2011 I'm looking for 5.6 400 and 560 - and I have the Televit-R. The right heads for the 14137, indeed : 560 is better and nicer also, imho. Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted December 16, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted December 16, 2011 I'll find one in due course. Right now they are only sold as complete Televid sets- some at amazingly unrealistic prices.
wlaidlaw Posted December 16, 2011 Share #13 Posted December 16, 2011 Jaap, The 400 and 560 Telyt heads to fit this aperture body and Televit are good fun to use with the shoulder stock but just don't expect to take any decent photos with them. The 560 in particular is a pretty dreadful lens. Only sharp in the centre and about as low contrast as you could find. It makes the 280 Telyt look like a stellar performer. I was lucky that I got the whole kit, Televit, Aperture body, 400 and 560 Telyts a couple of V to R/L'flex adapters (one of which you bought from me) and Visoflex II plus filters etc in a fitted case for less than £500 a few years ago. I think this a fair price to pay for an amusing toy but people are now asking around £1500 - £2000 for one of these kits, which given the poor optical quality, I think is too much. I think the Novoflex lenses you already have are somewhat better. Wilson
jaapv Posted December 16, 2011 Author Share #14 Posted December 16, 2011 Red Dot has a decently priced set, but I really only want the 560 head. I'm wondering if Novoflex B heads will fit.

wlaidlaw Posted December 17, 2011 Share #16 Posted December 17, 2011 JC, Were you only using the centre of the image? I now only use the 560 on my M8 as the outside of the frames using it on the M9, were so useless. I think the DMR also has an APS sized sensor. I actually have a couple of Doug's filters, which he sent me when he stopped using the Televit. He told me he usually cropped his bird photos quite a lot so as to use mainly the centre of the image. I am told that the 560 lens actually works surprising well in the infra red region but so far, I have not found any Wratten series VII filters. Focusing would I guess just be trial and error, which much easier and cheaper on digital. I have a dark red but that still lets through too much visible light. wlaidlaw Posted December 17, 2011 Share #17 Posted December 17, 2011 Here is an example of the 560/5.6 at f11 on an M8 - whole image and top edge crop. The fall off at the edge of a full frame like the M9 is even worse. On these I have even tweaked the clarity on C1 to improve the original image and increased the contrast. jc_braconi Posted December 17, 2011 Share #18 Posted December 17, 2011 I do not used them with M8/Viso because it is a too low process and the only examples I have to post were taken to have short DOF so cannot compare I will try to make some new tests today. jc_braconi Posted December 17, 2011 Share #19 Posted December 17, 2011 I was so surprised by the poor quality from your picts that I just made some test with the R8/DMR/Televit/400/560 setting 200 ISO open 5.6 on both lens head used, (what is funny is that the focus stays the same when you change the lens head) next DNG to TIFF in C1_5 next TIFF to JPG in PS CS3 saved for the web no PP no crop only for the detail at the 560 under roof at the right down of the pict. It is windy outside you can see on the tree head near the chimney # 1 the 2 combos # 2 the house on the hill from the window # 3 400 # 4 560 # 5 details under the roof with the 560 (not on the center) Your opinion ? wlaidlaw Posted December 17, 2011 Share #20 Posted December 17, 2011 JC, Maybe you are lucky that you have a better 560 than me due to sample variation, although it is a very simple single group lens. My photo was taken in Provence in mid summer so a lot more dust and haze in the air. I cannot try as, due to a large wine order from SWMBO (she who must be obeyed), there was not enough room in my 911 to bring back the lenses to the UK this winter. Lastly I wonder if it is easier to focus 100% accurately on the R8 than a Viso, even though I have a Nikon screen in mine. My Nikon screen was optimised for use on a 65 Elmar at 2 metres for copying work and I am not 100% convinced it is correct at longer distances, although the f11 should have compensated for that. Perhaps f11 is too small and I am getting diffraction limitation. Wilson
