M3 lenses with 'specs'

Hi,

I used to own an M3 with the close focus 50mm Summicron. This lens had spectacles which you fitted if using the close focus range, otherwise they stayed off.

What I'd like to know is with the 35mm M3 lenses with specs, are the specs part of the lens body/mount or do they slip off, if you wanted to use the lens on another camera?

Correct, confirm: the very first 35s with goggles (f 3,5) had indeed a pair of screw one can dismount the specs with, but was only a manufacturing method, not made for a dismountable-by-user unit. Incidentally, the leather bag for lenses with specs is beautiful... (I have one....) and the really detachable specs of the Summicron 50 short-distance had a proper leather small bag (I have not, but damn someday I'll find one....)

Just another question, am I therefore right in thinking that if you use a 35mm M3 lens on another M, it will select the 50mm frame line and the specs will convert the field of view appropriately or does it just work on the M3 finder (which has a different magnification of course).

Luigi, do you have a picture of the 35 leather bag? That would be very interesting, because I think, that that is an accessory, which hasn't been shown in this forum yet.

Check the 'A little...' threads posted here by JC Braconi - I'm sure he posted a photo of goggled lenses and cases, and lots more besides!

Sorry, but could you give a little bit more information on the thread? By searching "a little" I get hundreds of threads...

Thanks!
