loosecanon Posted May 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This came with a bunch of Reprovit II bits that I found at a yard sale. Any idea what it is?
Advertisement Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Hi loosecanon, Take a look here What is this Gizmo?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Walt Calahan Posted May 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 28, 2010 Looks like what I use to communicate with my handles. Might be a film viewing device?
loosecanon Posted May 28, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted May 28, 2010 That's what I thought at first but the two knurled knobs would be in the way. It has a momentary switch, what appears to be a timer, and an accessory (lights?) socket on the back.
steich Posted May 28, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 28, 2010 Leitz' prototype for the flux capacitor. Anyone got a De Lorean for testing? Regards Stefan
jaapv Posted May 28, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 28, 2010 It is clearly a film duplicator. I will have a look in my accessory book tonight.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 28, 2010 Fine... surely present in some old catalog of darkroom / copying equipment... has something that resembles the (subsequent) ELDUR to make transparencies from roll of film... jc_braconi Posted May 28, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) this is a KOLOM ( lamp house ) : the base for a KOPAT or a KOVIR the part missing is the KOTOS or a KOGLA the complete apparatus is for duplicating film or printing transparency in large quantities for trade processing plants and commercial establishments. I have a complete one but not close to my computer to make/post a pict of it. Edited May 28, 2010 by jc_braconi

luigi bertolotti Posted May 28, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 28, 2010 Thank you, I was sure I'd find the answer here. Found a pic for anyone who may be interested: Contact Printers - Antique and Vintage Cameras Thanks ! Splendid picture and description : "...33' of 35 mm film..." 33 ft is about 10 meters... and indeed the film holder strongly resembles the Leica 250 body... jaapv Posted May 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) this is a KOLOM ( lamp house ) : the base for a KOPAT or a KOVIRthe part missing is the KOTOS or a KOGLA the complete apparatus is for duplicating film or printing transparency in large quantities for trade processing plants and commercial establishments. I have a complete one but not close to my computer to make/post a pict of it. The image I have of KOLUM (as it is called in the Hove booklet, but that has more than one printing error) shows the base without the rheostat and a different bell-push with a white button. Are there two variants, or even three, as the one found by loosecanon has the other bellpush and the rheostat? It is quite possible. It was built from 1933-1957. Steve B. Posted May 29, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 29, 2010 Wow! I sure enjoy this forum; I learn a lot. Never heard of one of these before. Thanks, J.C.! I came upon one in my 1953 Leitz NY catalog, page 26 and 27. The photo on p.26, if I understand what I read, shows a KOPAT, which, it says on p. 27, consists of a KOLOM on the bottom with a KOGLA in the middle and a KOTOS on top. Sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book to me. - Steve Busch Welcome, dear visitor!
