hammam Posted October 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2009 Does anybody know where in Toronto, or failing that Ontario, or failing that Canada, I can get an M8 CLA'd, sensor cleaned, gussied up? Did you try Kindermann, in Toronto? They do very good jobs on film Ms (Gerry Smtirh is «da man») but I don't know about digital Ms.
mzcloud Posted October 11, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2009 I see you are in Richmond Hill, so am I. There is this Leica office around leslie/16th. Not sure what that is for

Jamie Roberts Posted October 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 11, 2009 The only thing they can't (or couldn't) do at Kindermann is adjust the sensor, which might be necessary on a digital M / DMR. If that's what you need, then it's Leica NJ. Otherwise, if you just want an optical / rangefinder CLA, then Kindermann and Gerry Smith is definitely the place and the man, as others have said. fotoism Posted October 12, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is this Leica office around leslie/16th. Not sure what that is for The one you mentioned with the big red "leica" sign outside has actually nothing to do with Leica cameras. They are more into geosystems and stuff. Kindermann is at 361 Steelcase Road west, Markham, unit 3, just south of John Street. Gerry is the man to talk to.
4X5B&W Posted October 12, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2009 Gerry is semi-retired but is working a few days a week I believe. If you need to speak to him in person you may want to call ahead and check when he is in the office. Gerry works primarily on M series film bodies, not sure how much digital support he can provide. garyp Posted October 12, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 12, 2009 Gary Perry has also been nice to talk to at Kindermann. Gerry is the veteran, but I've found they are all helpful there.
don_panko Posted October 14, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 14, 2009 I have taken a Leica Digilux to Kindermann for repair and they handled it efficiently with New Jersey either supplying parts or rebuilding as required. They probably have the jigs to set up lenses with back or front focus problems but I haven't needed that service. I agree that they are good to deal with.
