It seems that a consensus is forming with regards to holding next year's "One Challenge" in Berlin. On the assumption that some local assistance can be procured with regards to meeting and supper venues, I am happy to take on the responsibility of doing the collecting and scoring arrangements.

The agreed date is Saturday 13th October 2007.

Obviously this is a very early call, and more information will be forthcoming over the coming months. Expect regular reminders ;)

(We could also do with a hand to place this in the German forum, as inclusivity is one of the reasons for arranging things in Berlin - thanks!)

Berlin... hey, that's great!

Thanks for choosing my hometown. :-)

So I guess my cameras will be in need of some service by the end of next year.

Hope to see you then,

Michael

Btw, there's currently a series of exhibitions in Berlin as a part of the project Europäischer Monat der Fotografie in Berlin (=European day of photography. But sorry, all text on this website is in german), with more than 100 exhibitions in galleries, museums, and other places.

While it's far too early to know my work schedule for the Fall of '07, I would like to try to make it. I haven't had the opportunity to visit Berlin yet, and this would be a fun (and as good as any) reason to go.

Berlin is a great choice, having recently spent 2 days there after Photokina.

This city is large and variable, so you may be overwhelmed with all of the opportunies for your shots ( perhaps an early scout around for a suitable location?).

I feel that the East side of the city may create a lot of interest (my choice). :)

Well, my wife retires in 6 or 7 days, I am winding down, which makes me free, but that is not the same as financed! I would dearly love to participate again, but it is far too 'futuristic' for me to predict. Consider that at the eleventh hour I will breeze in and stir the possum and then waft off to some other exotic location on the long journey back to to Oz.

Ah! Dreams. Let time tell all. I have a life to live between then and now. (What was that drink I had with dinner tonight?) My life is constantly organised, and reorganised, on a very short time scale, so consider me a 'last minute stater'. But very keen.:D

Cheers,

Erl

It's in my diary!

Can I suggest that we decide the venue for 2008 in Berlin? I know 2008 is a long time away, but I think it would be fair if the participants decide where the following year's challenge should be held. Putting it into open forum leads to far too many choices - much as I like Cyprus, I don't think too many people would have been prepared to go there just for a weekend :-)

People could propose locations and we vote on them eliminating the one that receives the lowest votes, then repeat this until one venue has more than 50% of the vote. Should only take 5 minutes or so - we're not talking about a secret ballot here :-)

Steve's right. This seems the simplest and fairest way. In simple terms - and these are NOT rules, I suggest we:

a) Take into consideration cost/ease of travel - cheap air or rail travel appears to be a major deciding factor

B) Always organise for a Saturday - this increases the likelihood of people staying over and makes it more convivial. Maybe just always make it the second Saturday in October?

c) Not do the same country two years running

Regards,

Bill
