johnastovall Posted September 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm in the processing of upgrading my processing system to prepare for a 64bit CS5. I'm down to a short list of two monitors. The LaCie 724 and the Eizo CG243W. I would like to hear from those who have used these monitors as to their pros and cons. Unfortunately, I live in a remote area of Texas and can't get to see them in use. I'm looking to using this system with a Christmas M9.

Jeff S Posted September 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2009 Why not the NEC LCD 2490wuxi with built-in SpectraView? Great product, less money. Sean Reid did a nice write-up, and I'm delighted with mine. Jeff
dcoombs Posted September 30, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2009 I presume we aren't limited to Macs here, are we? Now that I've moved I 'm looking to build a dedicated pc hardware system to handle post processing well, and a high level monitor is integral to that. I look forward to your discussion of the pros and cons of the options. Doug

dpattinson Posted October 1, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2009 I can second the recommendation for NEC. I bought a 2690 Multisync and use it with a Spyder Pro 3 calibration device.
bsmith Posted October 1, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Eizo, cg 211 and 221 for still images, cg 240 series for still and video. The screen will change contrast and color slightly as you turn your head on 240 series, 211 and 221 absolute perfect picture. Calibrate with "ColorEyes" software

haroldp Posted October 10, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 10, 2009 I am using a samsung XL20 (LED, Adobe RGB etc.) with a macpro ( 2 X 2.8 ghz quads, 12 GB , Leopard 10.56). Only glitch was I had to calibrate with a Spyder pro because the eyeone device that samsung included had no drivers for Leopard10.5. If you are serious about editing, a full gamut monitor (calibrated of course ) is a necessity. Regards ... Harold
