My 13 page M9 review...

Thanks for for such a comprehensive and well-written review Steve. I really enjoyed reading it and your passion is quite contagious. It's clear that it is a worthy successor to the M8.2 (except for the plastic screen that is).

I too have the 35mm Summilux ASPH and in normal photography haven't really come across the focus-shift thing that is so often spoken about. Maybe I have a good copy or just don't use it much at the parameters which can be cause it. I don't doubt that it exists but it really doesn't affect the enjoyment of the lens or the beautiful images it creates.

Best regards and thanks again for putting this together...

Tony

Let me commend you on an excellently written review. Yours was the first to describe any problems with the M9. I am referring to the excessive color saturation on the 'red' and 'orange' in JPEG; also, the need to correct B&W. Is this a disapointment? A major drawback?

I was going to count the number of explanation marks but gave up...

you mean exclamation points!

Thats just my style. When I am excited about something it shows. I use exclamation points. Sometimes a bunch of them. I am fully aware at how many I use :)

"An exclamation mark or exclamation point (!) is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings"

Thanks for reading it!

Nice review - thank you for posting.

The moire issue is troubling to me, and to my knowledge hasn't come up in any of the other reviews to date. Have you experimented further with other subjects that might be prone to moire, and if so, what are your thoughts? And, have any of you other M9 users noticed a problem with moire?

You'd think that Leica would have looked into this... But then again, who would have thought the M8 would have a problem rendering colors properly.

Thanks.

I've never read a negative review of yours Steve, and that's not the point of your reviews.

You share what you love, and one can only love the gear you're reviewing.

Well done, and I fully agree with your cons.

That LCD cover is a clear step backwards and formatting a 16GB card tooks me some 2 minutes or something with an M9.

You praise the chrome/silver finish. It looks sweet, but not as solid as the black finish.

Fun to read and certainly conveyes your enthusiasm. Not sure it is that helpful for others to decide whether to switch from the M8 to the M9. Your praise the FF as compared to the crop, but the reasons you give are very personal. Nothing wrong with that of course.

One question, however, remained. At the end of the review, you say that you loved the M8/8. and had about 5-6 of them. Why on earth would someone buy 5-6 bodies of the same camera  Just curious,

BTW, too many exclamation points/marks render defies the purpose of an exclamation point/mark. It's like underlining 80% of a text. Just my personal view :)

Just a few comments: why add vignetting to an image when you are trying to demonstrate the capabilities of a camera and lens? Seems counterproductive to me.

In your bio you state you've had "5 or 6" M8's & M8.2's and never had a problem. If you never had a problem why did you have so many? I have one M8, I've never had a problem with it so I fail to see the point of owning so many. Maybe one more as a backup, but 5 or 6???
