Guest dk_samurai Posted September 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello fellow forum members! I found this photo of an M7 on page 13 of the "I love my MP" thread. I was wondering what edition of the M7 this is? It's got a black dot Leica logo and it has vulkanit cover on. Additionally, the "M7" engraving has not been painted white. Is this a special edition M7 or an á la carte? I would like to contact the forum member who posted this photo waaay back then, but I don't think he's part of the forum anymore (please correct me if I'm wrong). Here's the link to the original forum thread: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/film-forum/8842-i-love-my-mp-13.html Hope someone can enlighten me! Best regards, David

bill Posted September 23, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2009 Looks totally standard to me, with the addition of a black dot from DAG or somewhere, and probably some solvent (or maybe just wear) to remove the white lettering. The covering is standard too. Regards, Bill
luigi bertolotti Posted September 23, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 23, 2009 I share the same opinion... a not too difficult home-made customization (which can be appealing for someone - personally, I like a lot the RED dot).
Guest Ron (Netherlands) Posted September 23, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 23, 2009 btw this really seems a painted over red dot
Guest dk_samurai Posted October 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 18, 2009 Thank you for your replies! I've learned elsewhere that acetone will remove the white paint "M7" script without damaging the black finish, because the camera has the black chrome finish. Had it been the black paint finish, acetone would then have damaged the paint work. Also can conclude that the leather cover has been changed from the standard M7 cover to the vulcanite cover. And the red dot has been switched out with a black dot. So all in all, not too special from a standard version of the M7... but still a beautiful camera! /David
zeitz Posted October 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 19, 2009 The M7 always had a Vulcanite cover. It's standard. Don't confuse it with the MP cover.
el.nino Posted October 19, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 19, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) no it did not. the m7 has its own covering as the mp has and thats definitely not the fake-vulcanite one. just have a look at the configurator.
