WHAT... after all this hard work, they don't let you keep the Beta..? I would have said it was a keeper or offered it a half price or less.

.

Hi Bo

Yep Loads of Hard Work . . . using an M9 around Europe to take the pictures I wanted to take anyway. I'd say I deserve a brace of S2's and 6 M9 bodies, wouldn't you?

It's been a great experience, and having pictures in LFI magazine, and having people actually looking at my web pages has been great, added to which the Leica crew are fun and interesting to work with.

I agree. If I were Leica product management or customer relations then I'd have pony'd up an M9 gratis because if this isn't more than $7k of advertising I don't know what is! (In fact I'd add a x10 multiplier).

Lovely, lovely, lovely !

I liked them a lot; especially, the ones called "Yellow and Blue" and "Orange Anchor". The textures are deliciously beautiful.

Were you using a 90mm Summicron-M APO?

Also, what 16mm lens were you using?

And, regarding your panos, did you crop them or stitch them?

HI There

thanks for the kind words - it was a great trip, and not too much trouble to process the photos!

I was actually using a humble little 90 elmarit. It was the first leica lens I ever bought (secondhand, together with a 50 'cron and a CV 15). It hasn't seen much since the M8 appeared, but it's now become a firm favorite).

For the 16 mm I was using the WATE (wide angle tri-elmar). Fiddly on the M8, but a delight on the M9.

The panos were simply stiched in CS3 with photomerge.

Wonderful pictures Jonathan, and a great idea to visit Crete in September. I am sure you not just enjoyed the M9 but also great vacations as well.

Hi There . . . It's wonderful then, it does rain sometimes (we had a couple of real downpours). We go walking - swimsuits and clothes in backpack, then when it stops you have dry clothes :)

Very good commenting in LFI, independent and credible. It has had the unfortunate result of making my wait for the M9 I have on order even more enervating.

The old man from the Age of the IIIa

Hi There Lars

Thanks for that . . . When I read it, I thought . . . what a pompous git! (I think the comments were translated into German, and then back into English again . . . still, no complaints about the content, it was what I'd said.

Sorry to make your wait worse . . I've got a steel grey one on order, so I know the feeling!

Jono

Totally stunning. Just love those goats especially!

Can't honestly see that much difference from these IQ wise to your M8 shots at this res though. :) Good news for us lowly M8 users. Must've been great to get back to 'proper focal lengths' though which is less of a problem for me being so new to M photography.

HI Ian

Thanks for the kind words - of course, you're right, not much to compare at this size, and of course, your M8 is still wonderful.

As to getting back to proper focal lengths . . . I never really had a problem before! Still, it's nice that the 28 'cron is actually wide these days, and the WATE is a ball.

Very good photographic work, B&W superb, colors unconvincing, cyanisticalistic

HI There

I don't know that word (not unconvincing, but cyanisticalistic). Funny, someone elsewhere said just the opposite - colour great, B&W unconvincing. I'm not a master of post processing (too lazy, not enough time). I do care about the photos though, and thanks for being nice about that.:)

Jono, that's a wonderful gallery and fun comments. Thanks for doing and sharing. You've made the M9 something to dream about for me.

Thank you - It's a lovely place, and they we had a lot of fun. The idea was to catch some atmosphere and show some variety. I hope I succeeded.

You are wrong about the colors. You get exactly those colors especially after a good rain where moisture goes and atmosphere cleans up. On top of it all he was lucky because this was a chilly summer with lots of winds, which further clean atmosphere. You get exactly these saturated colors...

"You are wrong about the colors."

Let's hope so, in my M9-photo's I do not recognize any cyan deviation, but I judge them in CaptureOne 4.8.3. In the Crete photo''s I do see cyan deviations, nrs: 5, 6 (shadows), 12, 16, 31, 32 , 33, 34, as well as in the test photo's of Doc Henry, link above

Dear Sir

-Nice pictures indeed,no questions about it.

-To be honest i am a bit jealous about your brand new M-9.I have a M 8.2 i bought less than one year ago.

-Looking to your pictures the distance between your superb quality seems to be centuries ahead of mine if i relate the time frame between your camera and mine.

-Yes i know sensibility has to be taken into account, not the ISO one but the one in your eyes.

-Question:How long is the M-9 ahead of the M-8,to deserve your show on this Forum?

Any backups of Leica on this?

Regards

Jean-Luc
