Jono I believe found the lens to be great - he and I have been calling each other and not yet getting a chance for a good chat but I will ask him tomorrow for any detail. In the meantime I tested in more detail today and found that my 28 cron on my M9 (it really is that specific in Leica land as we all know!) at F2.8 and F4, tends to focus very close to the front of the DOF plane. In other words if I focus the RF then pull focus a tiny bit closer, it works - but this is the case only at intermediate distances. At closer range and infinity it's fine. I really don't think there's a 28 cron problem on the M9 - in fact it's an incredible lens. I just think that some quirk of calibration means that mine, when focussed with the RF, places the subject right at the very front of the DOF zone. After a lot of testing today I now know to pull focus slightly forward at mid distances and then I get great results! Thanks for posting your experience... HI Bart I've not seen anything like this with mine . .. but I probably haven't been using it so much for mid distances wide open, I'll do some proper checking when I've got some time. Thanks Roey - It made me double check; but no, Java, and JavaScript are enabled. My Mac is old and at it's max. OS 10.3.9. I'm increasingly having problems with sites, even the wretchedly annoying moving Flash adverts on LUF have managed to freeze Safari and then leapt to invade my desktop. I'm in the UK, you might have heard my industrial retorts from where you are. Alas no funds for a new Mac [yet alone a desirable M9]. ............. From what I could see the page in question doesn't use Flash but rather utilizes JavaScript to display the photo gallery. That old one from Walsingham is one of my favourite 'gentle giggles' - a phrase I truly thank you for because it describes this sort of thing better than I ever have myself!
