I have to admit i actually got one bargain price after buying 12 lenses at high used prices. i picked up the 280 F4 for 2500, trust me that was a bargain price. But everything else like the 2 DMR's and R9 almost full retail price. Ouch!!!!

All my lenses I bought used and if there is a bargain there is i did not have to pay retail but still very high price tags but i would do it all over again in a minute. Just don't tell my wife that:D :D :D

Our Spanish member at the Club went to her Grandson's School Fete; on one of the stalls was a box with a Leica L1 compact camera, two cassettes Jessops films case etc. She asked " Is it a REAL camera" as it was priced at £1-50 ( She KNEW about Leicas from her club membership, but didn't know they made compacts). She was assured it WAS real so bought it for the £1-50 ! Here is a pic I took with it when I tested it for her.

Got a 250 2nd version for li'l over 300 $US in great shape, a 1.4 APO Ext for $400.

I know this isn't what you meant but, my first SL I got for $350 had it for 25 years; it's on it's way back from Kindermann from it's 2nd ever CLA. I consider it a heck of a bargain :)

Mint silver chrome Wetzlar M4 with 1.4/35mm Summilux for US$400.00.

Same seller had a beaten up Leica model II with a useless Summar; the outfit looked as if pulled out of a hungry dog's mouth and he wanted US$300.00 for it. Go figure.....

Two actually:

- a mint Super-Elmar-R 15/3.5 ROM for 1.500 euro

- a new Vario-Elmarit-R 35-70/2.8 ASPH for around 2.500 euro (bought the only sample available at the shop after the lens came out -- it was discontinued very quickly after that moment, the rest -as they say- is history...)

My wife and I were in an antique shop a few years ago and I saw what appeared to be a camera case under a counter. I asked the owner to see it and he pulled a Leica case out with a $1,200 price tag. I opened the case and a very clean M2 and 50 2.8 elmar was in it. I said I thought this was a little high in price and he stated there were other items. He pulled a large hard case from under the counter and opened it. It ontained seven or eight Leitz lenses and one Zeiss LTM including a mint 8 element 35 summicron, mint elmarit 90 and mint 135 elmar plus many very nice lenses. There was a visoflex 1 with two tops, bellows, cables adapters, filters, MR-4 meter, Viso 2 leitz tripod and two ball heads and many more items. There was a couple thousand dollars in adapters and focusing mounts alone. Then he pulled a mint IIIG and 50 summicron out and said he would take $500 for the IIIG and lens. I nearly broke my arm getting my check book out. He also had a III that was a disaster that he was asking $500 for but I passed on that one. I kept the MR-4 and M2 plus a couple of lenses and sold the rest. I later sold the lenses but in all I make a cool chunk of cash plus kept the M2 and MR-4 meter.
