This makes about 175000 sold ?

I bought a 2.hand M9 last month with the serial no 39060xx which was sold new here in Norway in the spring/early summer of 2010.

I hardly think that Leica has reached the volume of 20.000 sold M9 units yet. I read somewhere that Leica has a production capacity of about 8000 units per year, provided that suffucient parts are available. Which they haven't. On the other hand, production started, most likely, a few months before launch at the 9th of September of 2009. I would shoot at that Leica has produced 10 - 11.000 M9s per September/October 2010 with an additional 2 - 2500 units produced since then per today 13.2.2011. Making the total number of M9s produced, but not neccesarily sold, of 13 - 13.500 units per today.

I wonder what the total potential is at today's prices. Most likely, it is lower than the total number of M8s sold. So, there is little motivation for Leica to reduce prices to improve profits.
