Wilson Hi Wilson, I phoned the same dealer this afternoon and after the first two 'on the way' are sent out to customers (guess you are one of the two) they are expecting 'two more by Friday' and I have asked them to put my name down for one of them. So watch this space.

Wilson Hi Wilson. Sounds like the age old subject for a business school essay "What happens when market research, design & development and marketing have go the right product at an acceptable price yet production & despatch can't get it to the customer - please discuss"

johnbuckley Posted September 14, 2009 Share #27 Posted September 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The concept of dealers in the UK getting "two more by Friday" when dealers in the US have not yet gotten any, makes a friendly Yank go "Grrrrr." ;-)

Usually we in the UK have to wait and wait, then pay through the nose for the privilege. I bought a new iOmega eGo 500GB external hard drive when I was in the USA last month. It was not yet available in the UK and now that it is, the price is about 40% higher than I paid at Best Buy. Wilson
swamiji Posted September 14, 2009 Share #30 Posted September 14, 2009 My US Leica Dealer has 100 on order... How many received... 0. Not a word from Leica US about allocations.... We even had our Leica rep in house on 9/9 and 9/10... ARGH...

But sure wish a freighter filled with M9s would come around the docks in New Jersey! It did seem in 2006 with the M8, and in 2004 with the D2, that while there of course was someplace where the cameras landed first, within a week there was distribution everywhere. But the bespoke nature of making these, coupled with -- great news! -- incredible demand, will make many of us have to practice patience. And I hate being patient. swamiji Posted September 14, 2009 Share #32 Posted September 14, 2009 And I hate being patient. Me too. Perhaps I will have to protest... Like... I will only shoot with my M7... and only in Kodachrome until my M9 arrives... At least I will get used to full frame, with no IR filters...
adan Posted September 14, 2009 Share #33 Posted September 14, 2009 John, I suspect the first US shipment of M9's will fit in a 4-seat Cessna that could land on Teterboro's shortest runway. =8^o

According to Leica US... So yes... your right.
Guest brisman Posted September 15, 2009 Share #35 Posted September 15, 2009 I ordered yesterday in Australia, and been told it should be available in the first week of October! Cheers S.
adan Posted September 15, 2009 Share #36 Posted September 15, 2009 swamji - I hope you're right. I'd heard it was about 1/20th of that. Guess we'll know by Friday.
Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 15, 2009 Share #37 Posted September 15, 2009 Andy, that "4-seat Cessna" with a driver have at best with half fuel maybe 500 pounds of cargo load, yet I suspect space will be a issue before the weight limit is reached. Caravans don't qualify as "4 seat" .
adan Posted September 15, 2009 Share #38 Posted September 15, 2009 Well, I'm thinking even a 152 could hold it (and a pilot). Hope I'm mistook!!
diogenis Posted September 15, 2009 Share #39 Posted September 15, 2009 So in the end it turned out that the cameras and not the lenses will eventually fall short. As for supply, guys be patient, this is what it means "handmade"
jlancasterd Posted September 15, 2009 Share #40 Posted September 15, 2009 I've just, this afternoon, collected my (black) M9 from Cambrian Photography in North Wales. This was their first delivery and they only got the one. Mark Duncalf, the proprietor, has been told that his next delivery isn't due until October... Like everyone else, he is back-ordered.
