george + Posted September 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is way too much separation. It was bad enough when we split out the M8 Forum, I missed a lot of good information. Yes, I know it is easy to get to it, I just seldom bothered. And this business of closing down a discussion - that only had one side represented - is not something we are accustomed to on this Forum. Ugh . . . . Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi george +, Take a look here Please do not separate the M threads. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
footnoteblog Posted September 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2009 I think they did the right thing. Both cameras will shoot differently, and will also process images differently (in-camera, as well as post). It makes sense. IBTL!
Joe S Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 How about having the two separate forums for the M8 and the M9 for those that like it that way and an additional M digital forum that includes the threads of both. With todays cheap storage it shouldn't be an issue of cost or complexity. After some time the combined thread could be reevaluated and discarded if it is no longer useful. j_w_davies Posted September 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 It's not really difficult to view both forums is it? Just click on the Digital Forum link in the upper left hand corner, and all is revealed. As the cameras are so different (FF vs Cropped), and the treatment of lenses is therefore so different, I can't see how it makes much sense to lump them together. Otherwise the only solution would be to include M8 or M9 in every thread title, which wouldn't happen a lot of the time, and confusion will reign. footnoteblog Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 I am in favour of a Digital M forum After j_w_davies just gave a valid rationale for separating?

ChrisC Posted September 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2009 I am in favour of a Digital M forum I am too, though the M9 Forum will be racing for a while which at the moment would likely mean that M8 threads get booted out of the thread hierarchy. How about rejoining the two Forums in, say, a couple of months time when the M9 glee club has calmed down a bit. The principle issue for me is that those with the greatest knowledge of the M8 platform may well become M9-centric and forget to contribute here. Well we'll always have Imants to keep us from being too lonely. ................ Chris
Guest stnami Posted September 10, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 10, 2009 Hey guys this is a chance to get stuck into photography and take the sting out of gear talk...................develop a good black and white thread as the bnw files from the m8 files are still hard to beat.
