2500 iso samples here are brilliant in brilliant sunlight. in shades - the noise is very much there.

M9 needs a firmware update to get a noise free 2500 iso.

no matter how hapy we are, we are still looking at a £4850/$7000 camera - in the highest price bracket for DSLR.

Yeah, but it doesn't look unusable at ISO 2500. Look at the road in the shots above... I see noise in the shadows but a lot of detail too, and nothing I couldn't take care of in post.

I'd rather Leica keep the detail and let me decide what to lose with NR than what Canon and Nikon do--make me fight with sharpening to get a crisp shot.

Thanks, Toke, for the ISO 2500 pictures; but it would be more interesting to see ISO 2500 in conditions where you need this speed, not in broad daylight because that will show us more about details in the lowest tones and whether there is any banding, conditions from which the M8 suffers even with slight underexposure.

Toke,

it is the high ISO shots that is interesting. Please show us some more of shots taken at ISO 2500. I recognize street scenes from Århus, by the way.

That green dot would be quite natural having in mind that the shot is taken against the sun.
