ken_tanaka Posted November 19, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 19, 2006 You've spent a great deal of money on lenses for a camera you do not own. Now...NOW?...you ask strangers whether or not you should spend another $5,000 to buy the camera? Now? The Internet is wonderful entertainment. pekem Posted November 19, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi, I think you have decided quite firmly to buy the M8 and I am sure you will be delighted with it. In my opinion it would be better to wait a while, if you can, and allow all the wrinkes to be ironed out of the present offering.
rick_dykstra Posted November 19, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi Michael. I can't tell whether you have one on order or are just waiting for one to show up in a store nearby, but, clearly you are ready to start using one, and want to. I'd get it and dive into the mix and let us know about your experiences. If there is any sort of hardware fix to come from Leica, it will apply to your camera. If there's not and it's just a firmware fix and filters, then you are no worse off for having early experience up your sleeve. Life is too short to be overly cautious about everything. I bought $30,000+ of R8 system and module lenses when they came out, sight unseen. Imagine the fun I had unwrapping those! Sure, there were problems. That first body went back a few times, but gee I learnt a lot and took plenty of wonderful pics in the meantime. Look to the left. Look to the right. Look to the left again and then race across the road and pick up your M8. Take a self portrait of yourself smiling and post it here. Regards, Rick. Guest stnami Posted November 19, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2006 .. bought a Oly E-1, worked well from day one I took some great stuff didn't have to learn much, I knew how to use a camera and take photos. Didn't even bother with a firmware upgrade Would I buy a M8 right now, no, haven't got time to muck around as Rick says life is too short to buggerise around.......................... get on with what you can your Leica will be there in a year or so without a care in the world, But now that you have sold your cameras you just limited your choices so that is a different scenario as you started the thread with

andym911 Posted November 30, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 30, 2006 Michael, sorry if I offend you, but you posted the same question or similar a couple of weeks ago mainly about whether or not to get a black or silver one. I suggest you go with your gut---usually is right. Andy
