storybrown Posted September 8, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 8, 2009 I have actually used this Hektor to good effect on a Leica CL (surprising myself). It's an excellent bargain: very good Leica quality for the money. It's not Leica's best today or a lens I would use every day, &c, but if yours is in good shape you'll get a lot of keepers out of it. At the prices they're going for now, there's no reason not to get one, esp if you need something between a 90/100 and a 180, though you prolly wouldn't use those on an M, anyway. Good luck! My piece was made in 1952. There are just two problems with Hektor: 1) at least here in Brazil, it is difficult to find an Hektor (specially in screwmount) with the glass perfect. The usual shape would be a "more ou less aceptable". Never saw, in person, a perfect Hektor. 2) it is a little big. My wife and I signed up for an adult "zoo" class which meets weekly and we walk around the various "zoo environments" and learn all about each animal from volunteers there. It is a great photo session and I love taking my Leica outfit. Here is a colorful shot of a monkey (endangered species from Brazil) with my IIIf and Hektor 135mm.
