Pinocchio Wood Posted September 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think the release of a 1.33x extender at the sime time the M9 is released would make very good sense. It could save M8 owners an enormous amount of money replacing lenses purchased with the sensor crop taken into mind.

luigi bertolotti Posted September 4, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2009 Why a separate extender ? Better they make a M9 version for M8 owners with a fixed 1,33 extender... it even would protect the body's inside...

SJP Posted September 4, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) They can implement a M8 simulation mode in firmware and discard all the suboptimal pixels around the edge of the sensor I do not want. Plus the files & processing is faster. No need for an extension tube. OTOH it would be useful for the M8 to have a hardware M9 converter tube thingy, which shrivels the FF field of view down to M8 sensor dimensions. Should be easy with their superior knowledge of optics:D
UliWer Posted September 4, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 4, 2009 Will Leica pay me compensation for the pocket calculator which I don't need any more with a M9 but which I had to use to find out the true focal length of M-lenses on the M8?

BerndReini Posted September 5, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 5, 2009 Exactly. Because guess what, if you start out with a 10mp file, and crop it to M8 coverage, you'll still end up with M8 resolution.
