Guest BigSplash Posted August 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am aware that ther is to be an announcement on 9 Sept in France ( Paris Leica Boutique I presume?). RG Lewis have an event on 10 Sept with Leica staff attending. I believe that other Leica dealers in UK and US are holding events. Is anyone aware of a list of dealer events ? I presume Solms will have issued a press release like Apple have done for the same day but I cannot find it on Google, or the Solms web site.. I am trying to see if in South of France there will be an opportunity to see the M9 and the mystery new products.

Guest BigSplash Posted August 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2009 Why don't you phone your dealers down there and ask them? Excellent idea Andy. Actually I have done that at both Cannes and Nice since thursday last week..... but the phone just keeps ringing until I get a great rendering of Mozart 40 .........We are still in the funny season here. Guest BigSplash Posted August 31, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2009 Go to the main Leica site - you can register for a live videocast 9/9/09 there - 2 or 3 pm depending on whether you're on London or Berlin time.. Leica Camera AG - Live Webcast on 9/9/2009 (ADD): Leica dealer locator here: LEICA Dealer Search – Step 2 of 4 – Enter search criteria hey Thanks I have done this. I also have phoned Leica France and they said that there is something on Sept 9th but it it is secret and that they only expect an announcement on the web ....they said that they were unaware of any dealer shows of the new product(s) even in Paris. So what the rumour is about first announcement will be in France is becoming strange...... I shall keep trying to make contact with the main dealer in Nice and his affiliate in Cannes. veraikon Posted August 31, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 31, 2009 no there will be announced more than one product - for amateurs and profs And in the german version Herr Spiller used the plural in the way that implicates more than one camera-model. twittle Posted August 31, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 31, 2009 no there will be announced more than one product... Just got notification from my dealer: "Join us for a landmark event on September 9th, 2009 when we will introduce the next generation of Leica products." Sounds like more than just one product to me, too.
adan Posted August 31, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 31, 2009 Splasheroo: I think the "introduced in France" rumor mostly came from the fact that it was a Paris dealer who listed the M9 on a web price list (and then took it down). However - the Visa pour L'Image photojournalism conference will be taking place in Perpignan from now through Sept 13. and I have no doubt Leica will have a team and samples there Sept. 9 as well as Berlin, Solms, NY, etc. etc. I guess that's about as far South in France as you can get, absent Corsica. stunsworth Posted August 31, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 31, 2009 However - the Visa pour L'Image photojournalism conference will be taking place in Perpignan from now through Sept 13. and I have no doubt Leica will have a team and samples there Sept. 9. There were stories of M8s being there a few months before the official launch in 2006. It's a very important photo journalism festival, as I'm sure you know. johnastovall Posted September 1, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 1, 2009 Well I sit here in Texas, all dejected. I've learned the largest Leica Dealer in the state (located in Austin) has nothing planned for 09/09/09.
chuckw Posted September 1, 2009 Share #14 Posted September 1, 2009 I got an invitation for a 'Leica Day' on 9/9 at Cooter's Village Camera in Dallas, TX. I didn't know that they even handled Leica "pro" cameras any more.
dfarkas Posted September 1, 2009 Share #15 Posted September 1, 2009 For those in Florida, here are the details of our 09-09-09 Leica event: Leica Event 09-09-09 at Dale Photo & Digital Hope to see some fourm members there. David

I've learned the largest Leica Dealer in the state (located in Austin) has nothing planned for 09/09/09. John, I'd check out the Cooter's event if I were you. Rob Logan will be there. I doubt sincerely that any Austin dealer is larger than or as knowledgeable as Cooter's. I had scheduled a trip to Dallas for the ninth, but just cancelled it to watch the webcast. Guest BigSplash Posted September 1, 2009 Share #17 Posted September 1, 2009 I finally managed to get through to Arta Photo Nice and I am told that French dealers will go next Monday (7th) to Paris to meet with Leica and see the new products whatever they are as it remains secret. He "hopes" to return with samples and will be contacting clients locally for a get together next week. He has apparently already placed significant orders for the new product(s) sight unseen as many clients down here will want it if it has a red dot on it! FYI In the UK RG Lewis also told me that they have client orders for a MX...whatever it is and at a price that is roughly as indicated in the press. It seems that the recession is really biting if people can buy £5000 to £6000 camera bodies and do not know the spec. Down here during August try getting into any of the three star Michelin restaurants with one week notice they are all fully booked!
lct Posted September 1, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2009 ...Down here during August try getting into any of the three star Michelin restaurants with one week notice they are all fully booked! Hardly surprising, Frank. There is only one 3-star restaurant in the south of France and one at Monaco.
