wookchang Posted August 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2009 "Products" Plural!!!!! These folks at Solms want to deplete my bank account.
dng88 Posted August 31, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 31, 2009 9/9/9 for both Beijing/Hong Kong and New York for M9(?). Is it common for Leica so media, number, ... etc. oriented?
Dáithí Posted September 1, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 1, 2009 0900/09/09/'09 seems like too much of a coincidence not to be a M9. But waht will it be? Also, the little "teaser" video on YouTube seems to show both M and R bodies. It makes me wonder what is coming. It would take a lot though to make me trade in my MP. thompsonkirk Posted September 1, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 1, 2009 That's a clever reading of a 'coded' message - all 9s MUST mean an M9. Kirk
macaroniitfc Posted September 1, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) just hope it is a digital m9 - just bought an m7 and i'd hate for them to bring out a new film camera (although not sure what else they could add to the m7)
sjöbjörn Posted September 1, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 1, 2009 9/9/9 for both Beijing/Hong Kong and New York for M9(?). Is it common for Leica so media, number, ... etc. oriented? Please correct me, but for Chinese I think the 9 is a very special number, so it makes sense to have it at 9 in Bejing. Thank you Andreas for informing us! bjmike Posted September 2, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 2, 2009 Actually, for the Chinese world, it the number 8 (altho 9 ain't too bad either). An example was last year's Beijing Olympics, which started at 8 minutes after 8 pm, on August (the 8th month) 8th. The year was, of course, 2008. 8:08 pm, 2008/08/8. You also have to pay an awful lot of extra money to get a license plate for your car with lots of 8's on it. And you've got to avoid 4's as much as possible. Most high rise buildings have no 4th floor. And so it goes . . .
redbaron Posted September 2, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 2, 2009 So is there just a big gap between the third and fifth floors?
bjmike Posted September 2, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2009 Cute! Either they use the 4th for HVAC or the just go directly from 3 to 5, like (common in U.S. & Canada), there's no 13th floor.

jacobh Posted September 2, 2009 Share #15 Posted September 2, 2009 Panasonic has just unveiled their GF1 MicroFourThirds compact.(Amateur Photographer news site). It will take M and R optics via an adapter. Wonder whether Leica will introduce their own clone of it as the new product for "novices"? Mahogany Posted September 2, 2009 Share #17 Posted September 2, 2009 As posted in the Customer Forum: The 2nd big announcement (and Leica's 4/3s solution) will be the X1, which looks to be a rebadged GF1. Andrew V Posted September 2, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 2, 2009 Clearly not a GF1, fixed lens, round flash, and aps-c sensor. I hope its a fake though. Really ugly.
Mahogany Posted September 2, 2009 Share #19 Posted September 2, 2009 Clearly not a GF1, fixed lens, round flash, and aps-c sensor. I hope its a fake though. Really ugly. I have no doubt the picture that LeicaRumors have provided of the fabled X1 is probably a mock up - however, I wouldn't be so quick as to dismiss the possibility of a rebadged GF1, with adjustments to the aesthetics of the body and a shiny red dot. The Leica/Panny relationship is still going strong, and the GF1 would be the ideal 4/3 solution that Leica have been touting. However, I do not have the gift of foresight, so I'll be happy to suck it and see
