0900/09/09/'09 seems like too much of a coincidence not to be a M9. But waht will it be?

Also, the little "teaser" video on YouTube seems to show both M and R bodies. It makes me wonder what is coming. It would take a lot though to make me trade in my MP.

9/9/9 for both Beijing/Hong Kong and New York for M9(?). Is it common for Leica so media, number, ... etc. oriented?

Please correct me, but for Chinese I think the 9 is a very special number, so it makes sense to have it at 9 in Bejing.

Thank you Andreas for informing us!

Actually, for the Chinese world, it the number 8 (altho 9 ain't too bad either). An example was last year's Beijing Olympics, which started at 8 minutes after 8 pm, on August (the 8th month) 8th. The year was, of course, 2008. 8:08 pm, 2008/08/8. You also have to pay an awful lot of extra money to get a license plate for your car with lots of 8's on it.

And you've got to avoid 4's as much as possible. Most high rise buildings have no 4th floor.

And so it goes . . .

Panasonic has just unveiled their GF1 MicroFourThirds compact.(Amateur Photographer news site). It will take M and R optics via an adapter. Wonder whether Leica will introduce their own clone of it as the new product for "novices"?

Clearly not a GF1, fixed lens, round flash, and aps-c sensor. I hope its a fake though. Really ugly.

I have no doubt the picture that LeicaRumors have provided of the fabled X1 is probably a mock up - however, I wouldn't be so quick as to dismiss the possibility of a rebadged GF1, with adjustments to the aesthetics of the body and a shiny red dot. The Leica/Panny relationship is still going strong, and the GF1 would be the ideal 4/3 solution that Leica have been touting. However, I do not have the gift of foresight, so I'll be happy to suck it and see :D

The leak indicates that this is NOT A 4/3 CAMERA but in fact an APS-C camera. No VF is lame though.
