benkelley Posted August 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a head's up. If anyone is updating today... be forewarned. I haven't myself yet... the workaround sounds annoying. http://www.phaseone.com/HOME/Content/Support/Article.aspx?articleid=2271&LanguageID=

Nicoleica Posted August 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 28, 2009 Snow Leopard works great with Aperture. (Capture NX-2 is OK too.)
elgenper Posted August 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 28, 2009 Snow Leopard works great with Aperture. (Capture NX-2 is OK too.) Has anyone tried LightZone with SL? Can´t find any info on the Lightcrafts site, and the SL compatibility wiki doesn´t list it....
miami91 Posted August 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Snow Leopard works great with Aperture. (Capture NX-2 is OK too.) Just make sure your Aperture is up-to-date. Apple has officially published known incompatibilities, and Aperture 2.1.1 and earlier apparently won't launch under Snow Leopard. chuckw Posted August 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 28, 2009 Thanks for posting! However, if I read the work around correctly if sounds like it is directed at those who have not activated or used C1 yet. Here is a quote from the document: "When starting Capture One for the first time on Snow Leopard (if software has not been activated or session file exist on the computer). . ." The relevant phrase being - "if software has not been activated or session file exist on the computer" Has anyone who uses C1 actually installed Snow Leopard already and tested this? As I type this I am starring at a yet unopened box with Snow Leopard right in front of me!

As I type this I am starring at a yet unopened box with Snow Leopard right in front of me! I have been using C1Pro 4.8.2 all day on 10.6 not knowing there was a problem. All my conversions from various cameras all worked like normal. edit: Just to confirm that C1 was already installed before going to 10.6. Roy
carstenw Posted August 28, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 28, 2009 Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 both continued to run without hickups or installation repeats or difficulties. I haven't tried all the features, but the apps come up and function.
miami91 Posted August 28, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 28, 2009 I can also verify that Capture One v 4.8.1 seems to work fine under Snow Leopard, although as I rarely use Capture One, can't say I put it through its paces. I did process a D-Lux 4 raw to TIFF though, and it worked fine. Similar to others above, it was already installed on my system prior to OS 10.6, so perhaps that makes a difference. I'm also going to ignore the prompts to update to v4.8.2 of Capture One until Phase brings out the official 10.6 compliant version. As for Snow Leopard itself, upgrade was unremarkable. Took about 35 minutes. Can't say I notice that my system is any snappier, but performance improvements may be dependent on software vendors bringing out "Grand Central Dispatch" aware versions of their products. I also didn't see any HDD space savings. In fact, after installation, my primary system disk is about 1 GB larger than it had been pre-Snow Leopard. Jeff. carstenw Posted August 28, 2009 Share #12 Posted August 28, 2009 Jeff, try rebooting and watch the startup times. It is especially noticeable if you, like I, start several applications automatically upon startup. Much faster. Also, I haven't seen a beachball yet... knock on wood. Even just starting up Safari seems noticeably faster.
Nicoleica Posted August 28, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 28, 2009 If you run the Activity monitor, you'll be able to see that there are a lot of 64bit apps now. Including Safari. It does seem faster to me. I like the subtle appearance changes too. I haven't found anything that doesn't work yet either.
jaay Posted August 28, 2009 Share #14 Posted August 28, 2009 C1 4.8.1 (regular) working fine for me in Snow Leopard. Now my printer that's a different issue.....
miami91 Posted August 28, 2009 Share #15 Posted August 28, 2009 C1 4.8.1 (regular) working fine for me in Snow Leopard. Now my printer that's a different issue..... Yep, lost my printers too. Fortunately they are pretty easy to re-establish, although I had to install Rosetta (PowerPC emulation) in order for my Epson 4880 driver to be recognized. Jeff. benkelley Posted August 29, 2009 Author Share #17 Posted August 29, 2009 I'm glad it wasn't a major issue–I must've missed the part about the glitch only being with first time activations... Anyway, I didn't even get to update until a couple of hours ago, and everything seems fine. Lightroom works well... Safari does seem a bit snappier. More tests to come... ! larry Posted August 29, 2009 Share #18 Posted August 29, 2009 If you're running any non-Universal apps it's important to click the "customize" button before starting the installation and select Rosetta. Otherwise, those older programs aren't going to work. Larry

Otherwise, those older programs aren't going to work. Larry When I installed Snow Leopard yesterday, it detected that I had some non-universal apps and offered to install Rosetta. So I wouldn't panic if you forgot to specify it.
kalina Posted August 29, 2009 Share #20 Posted August 29, 2009 I don't know why everyone wants to upgrade to the latest and greatest so quickly. I'm an IT director for my university and we're all waiting a few weeks for the bug reports to roll in before we upgrade.
