You can't have "genuine gripes" about as yet unannounced camera based on "information from a reliable source":) If your grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon :D

Let's see if your source is correct if and when an announcement appears. I'd bet against you!

Actually, this may be grounds for a genuine gripe. I've been informed by a very reliable source that the M9 has a different shape to the top-plate - it's flat without the 'drop' down for the shutter speed dial and shutter release. No big deal in itself but it may suggest that the M9 is a little larger than ideal. Remember the fuss when the M6TTL came out with an extra 2mm of height? There are also general rumours (not from my source) that the M9 is thicker than the M8.

Why not? A gripe is a gripe. We could get into a philosophical debate about what is necessary for a gripe to be considered genuine but the fact that I just made the gripe is evidence enough for me.

Incidentally, I'll take the bet. If the M9 is not larger in at least one dimension than the M8 I will buy you a pint of your revolting Australian cat piss that you call beer. If I'm correct you can buy me a pint of decent English ale.;)

Aah I think I bet you that the top plate was not going to be flat with no step down for the shutter speed dial like your 'reliable source' told you! No wiggling now! :)

On gripes you must like hypotheticals :D

I could have a genuine gripe then that someone told me Scarlet Johannson is going to marry me but she is hopeless at making toast! I only like her because she has a Leica.

Doesn't have Mark Norton's name on it.

I ordered the Mark Norton special edition. It came with a full tool kit and instructions to take it to pieces and reasemble.I should have ordered the delux version which comes with a live size blow up doll of Mr Norton and a video commentary. This is the ultimate do your own anatomy of an M camera.

My cat objects to this statement. She states that her piddle is much more palatable!

Eh, what does that mean in plain english?

I was trying to be polite. But basically, my cat objected, on the grounds that Australian beer is far worse than cats piss. (See, we English don't just have a go at the French, we'll have a go at anyone.)

Wittgenstein (or at least, the Earlier Wittgenstein) would contend that this is the essential flaw in all modern philosophy. Just because you can say something doesn't mean that the thing is a thing, let alone that the thing is true. (For a quick eg, one can SAY that the ball is red all over and blue all over at the same time... but that's never going to make it possible, let alone true...) ;)

Hmmm...ball could be purple, i.e., blue and red all over.

Whoops - nope - Sorry! The Leica User's Group Leica User Group (LUG) archives has already determined that thread digressions may include preferred single malts and which luxury car glove box best befits a Leica - but NO digressions into Continental Philosophy or cat pee (or is that redundant?)!

Beyond the Pale. Moderators please take note.
