I've tried several charged batteries- nothing. Any suggestions? Thinks...... is it possible that the sensor can fail completely, without showing the rainbow streaks? I once made a comment about expensive Digicams with fixed lenses. Pity you cannot use the lens, as I beleive it's an excellent peice of glass. Ken. This doesn't happen very often apparently, judging from the posts here. These cameras were made from 2004 to when: 2006? Outside of the sensor, which is fine once replaced, the D2 seems very reliable. Anyone have a big repair horror story to share? daveleo Posted August 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 22, 2009 hi there sorry about your D2. i have had mine since early 2004. when the sensor failed (2007 or 8 ?), i got a totally black screen (no stripes ..... no slowly degrading images ..... sudden black screen). i had the sensor replaced and it's been fine since then. kknox55@gmail.com Posted August 22, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 22, 2009 Mine is at Leica USA now, it had a failed circut board. It worked then just gave me memory card error and then that was it. They are putting a new sensor in under warranty but the circut board repair is $375.00 + shipping. Hope yours is something simple. stuny Posted August 22, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 22, 2009 Pete - My first D2 needed the sensor replaced, and before that needed the rubber coating reapplied and the lens controls looked at (felt gritty). All that, plus a firmware upgrade were free. In February in Rwanda the SD card door broke, but using a band-aide (plaster) I was able to keep it working. The repair estimate was more than a used D2 replacement. Leica offered me a "demo" unit for $500, which I bought, and It's working fine. I'd send it to Leica for an estimate. For stationary circumstances you can use the battery charger, plug in the 8.4 V cable (supplied with the camera) and connect it with the camera behind the left door. rijve044 Posted August 23, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 23, 2009 Does not seem to be part of the UK-supplied kit, unfortunately, great idea though. hoi pete In my d2 manual directly after table of contents there is a delivery status. you should have 3 cables (USB/AV/ and DC cable) Even the french manual states it. so either you left them in the box or if you bought it second hand the former owner did not hand it to you (and that happened to me) but you can try at your local electronic shop, the plugs are common in 230V AC to 12V DC adaptors. Diameter of the plugs are 4.7 mm and the inner pin is + on both sides. Anyway take the camera or battery charger with you for correct measure. Costs a couple of € ~I suppose. For the first time, I had stumbled and fallen, causing mechanical damage inside (and a nasty scratch in the ring of my UV filter), then, secondly, the chip gave up its mind, and as third, water came into my flat due to flash flood after a sudden heavy rainfall, and my camera was in a traveling bag standing on the floor... kaethe Posted August 26, 2009 Share #20 Posted August 26, 2009 hmmmm. i have had my digilux 2 since 2004, had the sensor changed last winter, and now the multi-frame doesn't function, only get two images or none. in addition, i was shooting some baskets of purple yarn to check colors, as i usually only shoot b/w and the colors were quite pale, but ok on general still life/landscapes. leica said it may be the ccd, so send it in, and they will take care of it under warranty. off it goes to new jersey tomorrow, we shall see. so hard to give up on this camera. kaethe Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
