holmes Posted August 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) user, asks, what is this S2? It seems to have very wealthy photographers, collectors jumping up and down in their seats? I have seen no pre-release barrage of advertising. If Leica chooses to advertise, they better hide the price tag. Again Leica fails to develop a strong consumer orientated camera that would put the name of Leica under the noses of family buyers. You need to have three strong lines (target market, price, configuration) to compete. I seriously can't see Robert Capa hiking through the patties of Cochinchina with a $22,000.00 camera around his neck. Douglas would have thought him crazy. I hiked through the jungles and forests of central Annam with an Olympus Pen EE, (cost around $22.00) in the PX,plus full military hardware. No, I'm sorry Leica which ever way you fall. I'll still have my one M6TTL 0.58 and two M7's 0.58 and 0.72. The three 'Rs' are two model R6.2s and one late model R7. With those I'd gladly go back and retrace my steps through the jungle and elephant grass. The one caveat would be no one trying to shoot me.
Advertisement Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Hi holmes, Take a look here A Canon EOS system owner and Leica M and R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted August 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2009 You need to realise that different cameras are aimed at different markets. There's more to photography than pretending you're Capa.
earleygallery Posted August 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2009 The S2 isn't for wealthy amateurs or collectors, it's aimed purely at the professional market. If you can get your head around that concept then it may just start to make sense to you.

wilfredo Posted August 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2009 Most of us on this forum are not the target clientele. I've made my peace with that :-)
