Following advice eslewhere on the Forum I purchased the lens adapter from Pandabase via eBay.

First the service was very good and it arrived very quickly from HongKong.

More importantly it seems to do the job well, is well constructed, and although it obviously makes the camera less pocketable, it also gives more security when hand holding.

So overall, and considering the low price, something I would also recommend.

The LX3 ist the DL4s "sister model" and in this way the original adapter...

Karl

Thanks Karl, I understand that. I suppose my point is, and has already been made, adaptors like the Pandabase are just as well-made, give a larger surface to grip (great when like me you have larger hands) and take 52mm filters, which are far easier to come by.

To each their own.

Regards,

Bill

The only disadvantage of the Panda adapter is the fact that you can't use the original Leica lenscap.

Hmm... It comes with one. Also, my original cap is back in the box. If the adaptor isn't fitted I use cheap generic push-on caps that I don't care if I lose.

And for those of you who always wanted a fitted case with your tube adapter - looky what I just found on ebay :

PANASONIC LX3 CAMERA CASE(LARGE) - FOR EXTRA LENS on eBay (end time 08-Sep-09 13:15:05 BST)

I just need to find a buyer now for my original Leica Black leather case.

Interesting. It has Leica stamped into the leather flap but judging by the logo it is not manufactured by or for Leica.

Double Hmmm... mine didn't. But it did come with a lens hood. I got mine from West Coast Camera.

Triple hmmm...

To be precise, mine came with a front cap and a cap keeper thread, which I detest and would never use. I added another lens cap at the back, and keep my SBOOI in it, wrapped in a lens cloth, when not in use. The cap that came with it can be clearly seen here

Nice Cap! I wish I had gotten one instead of the useless lens hood. By the way, I've noticed that when taking pictures with the flash the adpator casts a shadow on the subject, so watch out for that.

Tony

The case mentioned above looks very interesting. Just wondered whether anyone has tried one or knows anything about the supplier regarding quality etc.?

Well I ordered one, only to be told that they are not quite as pictured....basically they are now plain black with no markings (ie Leica).

I was not happy being sold something that was not quite as described, so I have asked the seller not to ship and requested a refund. I am sure it will fit fine, and be fairly compact, but I just didnt think such a fake (when I saw the new pics) was worth £50.

Shame really, as did look perfect...but probably £25 perfect.

I think you're wise to pass on it - one of his former customers doubts that the LX3 case he bought was made of real leather (despite being advertised as "genuine leather") so £50 looks to be an even steeper price. A bit dodgy.

Pandabase adapter and the cap pictured arrived today.

A very very well made peice of equipment, very good quality and having access to 52mm is a bonus.

I am still strugging to find a bag to fit the DL4, Grip and Tube adapter in though.
