wlaidlaw Posted August 3, 2009 Share #1 Â Posted August 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently been in correspondence with David Young, a director of the Leica Historical Society of America. I sent him a scan of a manual he did not have. He hosts a very wide range of Leica manuals here David Young's Photosite. He said he is currently looking for scans of Leicaflex and Leicaflex SL manuals. If anyone has a manual that they could send me scans or digital photographs (JPEG's, PDF's, DNG's or pretty much anything else), I will use Acrobat Pro to assemble them into a booklet and forward them to him. If you cannot scan them, you are in Europe and are willing to lend me your Leicaflex/SL manual, I would be happy to scan them for you and then return the manual to you. If anyone can help, please PM me. Â Wilson

luigi bertolotti Posted August 4, 2009 Share #2  Posted August 4, 2009 In case you never went on it, this site : Leicaflex instruction manual, user manual, free instruction manual, pdf manuals  hosts a number of manuals - Leicaflex and Leicaflex SL included. I do not know which can be the terms to make them available on another site

I do not know which can be the terms to make them available on another site  Luigi,  That is a semi-commercial site run by Mike Buktus, the download is copyrighted and is a not very good quality scan of a "well used" manual.  David Young who provides a free download site as a service to Leica users, would not be able to use this. DY has cleared the copyright issues with Leica for his manual service, so if I can borrow original manuals for the Leicaflex and SL to scan and forward the files to him, that would be a better solution.  Thanks for the link anyway.  Wilson

I bought a second hand Leicaflex SL in 1983 after I had a very poor experience with a new Nikon FD. Sadly I must have had the "Friday" SL and it was very little better but unlike the FD, the expensive rectifications were not on warranty. I exchanged that for a Contax 139 in 1984 and it is still working perfectly, now in the hands of a Russian friend.  Wilson

Wilson  Wilson, For me I always have my Leicaflex bought new first in 1968 and which is always functional . If all camera is as SL it would be marvellous ! ...a picture of my SL with the 50 summicron "made in germany" or the ancestor and the modern ....M8 with which I took this photo : 41 years separates them
storybrown Posted August 9, 2009 Share #10 Â Posted August 9, 2009 I don't know whether you still need it, but I have an original Leicaflex SL brochure (35pp) and an original Leitz instruction booklet for the SL in fine condition (39pp) that I would be happy to send to you (from Texas) for scanning, &c, if you will send it back to me. If this would be useful, just PM me an appropriate address.

Guy,  May I ask you to contact David Young of the LHSA (Leica Historical Society of America) who is the person looking for this manual at dsy@furnfeather.net . It might be easier than doing this at one remove.  Wilson
