Advertisement Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Hi shootinglulu, Take a look here summilux pre asph ver3 price?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
epand56 Posted July 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2009 Lucy, is that 1000 what? Dollars? Euros? If it is Turkish liras it is a great price... I suppose it is UK Pounds. It is someway expensive IMO. At the time i payed for mine around 800 euros on eBay. I've sold it months ago to buy the asph version for about the same price. shootinglulu Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted July 30, 2009 Crikey, dim or what...50mm and that's pounds, sorry!
epand56 Posted July 30, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 30, 2009 Crikey, dim or what...50mm and that's pounds, sorry! Yes I thought it was a 50. Lucy, after a quick search on the Internet I've noticed that a 50 Pre Asph in the latest version with box, pouch and papers may even get to 1500-1800 USD. Mine was plain, with just the original caps. shootinglulu Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted July 30, 2009 Oh dear, i think i may have paid too much! 1,050 pounds. I've bought it from a reputable company 'Aperture" so i at least i can feel quite safe that i've ordered a used lens in good condition. Thankyou for looking that up. Should recieve the lens tomorrow, fingers crossed. Lucy
andybarton Posted July 30, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) You are supposed to do your research BEFORE you buy Now you know how much they cost from a reputable West End London dealer. The only way to find out is to visit a few dealers' websites and see whether they have similar items in stock, and then look at eBay.
peter_n Posted July 30, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 30, 2009 Make sure it is absolutely perfect for that price.
dcuthbert Posted July 30, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 30, 2009 Aperture are a good bunch of lads, I buy most of my blad/rollei/leica stuff from them and cannot tell you how many times they've fixed stuff for me on the spot for nothing.
shootinglulu Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted July 30, 2009 It has a mark on the part of the lens near the lens hood, but they say the optics are perfect. I am wondering if i should cancel this before they post it.
andybarton Posted July 30, 2009 Share #11 Posted July 30, 2009 Why? Are you going to find a better one, for less money? Have you trawled all the dealers (including our sponsors), and the one in Scotland?
SJP Posted July 30, 2009 Share #12 Posted July 30, 2009 I don't think Aperture is in the business of giving a bad deal. Prices for "users" v1 and v2 can easily be 800-1000 euro ex.vat, so a clear optics version 3 for 1050 pounds sounds OK. I would wait for the lens and see what "mark on the lens near the lens hood" means in practice before deciding to sending it back or not.
Sandokan Posted July 30, 2009 Share #13 Posted July 30, 2009 I paid £995 for mine from RedDot (I love to say that and hope Robert Parker is reading as he phoned up to buy it). I think £1000 is OK. Maybe you can find it cheaper on eBay but then you have the chance of being ripped off, whilst Aperture are safe and reliable. Did you try your local Dorset and Devon dealers too? ampguy Posted July 30, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 30, 2009 I assume you mean the late V2 E46 close focus lux. If so, it was a bit high, but I'd just enjoy it. Make sure it focuses spot on close up wide open, and at infinity, and that there is no noticeable CA (purple fringing) that some examples of this model have shown. Enjoy it, one of the best 50mm lenses.
shootinglulu Posted July 30, 2009 Author Share #15 Posted July 30, 2009 I do feel ok now thanks to you all and a bit of late research! I think it was a tad high in price but i'm not at all worried about that if it's a good copy. They were very helpful at 'Aperture' and said that if there was any focus shift i could return the lens. Thanks a lot for your help. Lucy
tbarker13 Posted July 30, 2009 Share #16 Posted July 30, 2009 I just found one for $1,250 USD. But from the description/photo, it looks to be a little rough around the edges. Glass is supposed to be mint, but the lens body has some brassing. Waiting for it to arrive.

luigi bertolotti Posted July 30, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 30, 2009 A) "Any time you decide to buy an item you finally have found after a long search, you'll find another for less money the day after" "Any time you pass by an item you'd like to have, you'll never find another at the same price" Those are 2 golden rules : so don't worry and enjoy your Summilux : it will be surely an excellent lens and you paid a nobad price for it. adan Posted July 30, 2009 Share #19 Posted July 30, 2009 I was chasing one on ebay and it went (not to me) for about $1,500. At the time that would have been about 1000 gbp, but I see the pound is up again. "Leicas will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no Leicas." - or like Luigi said.
