wizard Posted August 31, 2009 Share #121 Posted August 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Judging by how extremely sharp it renders the in focus detail and also by the background blur it produces and finally by the shallow depth of field, I'd say it's a Summicron 90 APO ASPH. If you can buy that for 600 US, go for it. Reading your hints again, I note that you say 'Leitz', not 'Leica'. So it is probably not the 90 AA, and also not any current Leica lens. Difficult. I am a bit a loss . Andy

luigi bertolotti Posted August 31, 2009 Share #122 Posted August 31, 2009 I have a Summarit 75 for my M8... and it renders VERY similar to Adan's pic... ...600 US$ could be a good price for a mint-boxed item, but is a Leica, not a Leitz, and i am not so sure, anyway, about the focal... the degree of OOF could suggest a smaller one... 50 at f2, for instance... a Leitz Summicron. Mauribix Posted August 31, 2009 Share #123 Posted August 31, 2009 Is that a Leitz 35mm summicron?... the OOF area is really a fingerprint, it reminds me of the Summilux 35 (leitz pre-asph) stopped down (f2-2.8), and somehow it reminds me of the new summicron 35 ASPH (bizarre, isn't it?). Let's hear Adan's response.
adan Posted August 31, 2009 Author Share #124 Posted August 31, 2009 OK - Maurizio wins the brass ring - Leitz 35 Summicron first version (chrome) with infinity lock, slightly stiff focusing (not sticky, just slow) $600. Should I go for it?
Mauribix Posted August 31, 2009 Share #125 Posted August 31, 2009 Great lens Adan, for 600bucks it seems a good deal... that's amazing how that summicron performs! I don't think you could easily find another performer like that within its "twin brothers"... I would go for it! So, here we are, this shot is made with the M8, first the whole frame, then two 100%crop of the focus and OOF areas... it's up to you guys! Welcome, dear visitor!
