StS Posted July 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do you have experience using the UV/IR filter in combination with colour (slide) film? Will the difference be visible? Stefan
Advertisement Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hi StS, Take a look here Colour (slide) film and UV/IR filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jplomley Posted July 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2009 Yep, cyan vignetting. No issues with B&W film though.

jrh68uk Posted July 23, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 23, 2009 Is there a point (focal length) at which the vignetting would no longer be visible? I'm wondering if I could get away with leaving the IR on my 90 Summarit when using colour film. There's an obvious way to find out but I wonder if anyone already has and can share their experience... artur5 Posted July 24, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 24, 2009 I doubt very much that the cyan corners would be visible with a 90mm. lens. Remember, on a 1.3x crop camera like the M8,. 35mm. is the shorter focal where the cyan corners appear, but it's a very subtle effect. On a film camera that would be 47mm ( i.e 50 ). My guess is that 75 and 90 are pretty safe on that aspect, but the filter could induce a general color shift on the picture ?. it depends on the sensibility of the different color layers to near infrared rays. As you said, there's one easy way to know it for sure.
