Advertisement Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Hi biglouis, Take a look here Triumph and Smithfields Reflection. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2009 Big - Quite a change for you, and beautiful for composition, contrast, tonal range, very subtle color, detail, selective focus, self portrait, and surveilance shot of the man next to you. biglouis Posted July 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted July 21, 2009 Thanks, Stuart, especially for your description of the result. One thing I've learned in recent weeks is that you can get some wonderful effects in largely monochromatic colour captures by turning the vibrance down to 0 in Lightroom and then slightly upping the saturation. To make the gold strip stand out I converted to Lab colour and add 50% multiply followed by relieving some of the shadows. LouisB PS Of course the title shoud read "Triumph" and not Triump
vdb Posted July 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2009 Exquisite detail, sharpness and clarity. Of course I agree with all of Stuart's comments as well. You are doing a primo job with this lens.

I like the treatment here, Louis, but I'm not sure about the oof thing just to the centre left. Andy, thanks for changing it, I hate typos! One thing I still get wrong in this type of shot is to carefully angle it so that I do not appear in the frame. There were a lot of creative possibilities here but because I did not take the time to carefully consider the opportunities, the reflection is actually a missed opportunity. Photography is a learning experience! LouisB
