Thanks for posting Riccis. It's always a pleasure to see you around.

Unfortunately, the moderators placed this thread in the "other" Sub sub-forum, which means it probably has the least traffic in the whole site. Too bad.

Keep 'em coming. I always check once a week to see if there is anything new on this thread. It'll be a long time before I'd ever be able to contribute to this thread though. :( In the process of buying a cheaper 21. Love the field of view.

Kemal,

You really can't go wrong with the Super-Angulon, a lens I adored and never wanted to sell until the summilux came along. The 21mm summilux wide open shows the same characteristics as the Super-Angulon. Quite magical, to my taste.

Great shots Ned. I've been enjoying this thread. Keep them coming. This one's one of the best. I love the way the reflected wall is contained within the man.

Thanks for commenting.

And it's funny to see how people react differently to pictures. About that picture in question, I think it's in the weakest bunch.

Speaking of which, I'm interested in your opinion of the 21lux now that you've gotten some time in with it. How would you describe it's draw in comparison with the above mentioned SA or even with other 21s? What's it like working with such a big wide on the street with a leica? Other interesting traits that you've noticed?

Enjoying the work with this lens by all.

Hi Kemal,

I can't possibly give an accurate review of the 21mm summilux yet. Unlike the hundreds of reviewers, to me it is unconceivable how one can own a lens during such a short time (one weekend in some instances) and come up with a "comprehensive" review of it. That's just impossible.

A good lens review (or a good, solid opinion) takes time. For instance, I shoot slides and B&W. The moment I will understand a lens fully, with all its quirks, is when I print and I totally see the characteristics of a lens come thru on the wet print consistantly. The light falloff, the luminance, the way the grains shine under a loupe. Those are all telltale signs of particular lenses. Once I can distinguish lenses while printing, because of the necessary dodges and burns and overall rendition, that is the moment I can say I know the lens 100%. This usually takes a full year.

For now, all I can tell you is that the Summilux at f1.4 shows the same characteristics as the S.A. wide open. The falloff and general modelé are there altough the Summilux is sharp from corner to corner. This alone is incredible.

Well, there's no accounting for taste.:D

Happy New Year, Ned !! :) (A little bit late, I know ....)

Your shots with Kodachrome and that lens are terrific, I really enjoyed looking through the whole thread again ! Of course I still can't afford one (also not the 35mm Summilux ASPH) but I am looking forward seeing more photos !

Cheers from Sapporo,

Gabor

Probably boring to some, but I found the graphics and colors very interesting. Definitely worth a Kodachrome try.

M7, KR64, Summilux 21mm

Not boring to me. One Four Six is a great photograph.

Best,

Bixi
