plasticman Posted July 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm just wondering. For the third or possibly fourth time in the last three or so years I didn't receive my copy of the magazine. Around the time of my last renewal everything got very confused when I was sent a reminder after I'd already renewed and paid for my subscription, but even after several mails to them I never received any reply. Now when yet another magazine has failed to appear, and I've written yet another mail and used their online feedback form once again and still not received any response whatsoever, I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had any luck in their contacts with the company? And if so, how did you do it? Mani PS: I've always remained scrupulously polite in all my communications. On reflection, maybe that's what I'm doing wrong? jaapv Posted July 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2009 You could try contacting mjh through a PM.. He may be able to light a little fire...
plasticman Posted July 8, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted July 8, 2009 You could try contacting mjh through a PM.. He may be able to light a little fire... Thanks Jaap, it's an idea. But I feel a bit hesitant to try pulling some inside strings... Strange that the company seems so totally immune to communication. I'm wondering whether to try to cancel altogether, but I guess having taken my year's subscription I would have zero chance of getting my money back. My worry is that the mess-up with the renewal has somehow swallowed my subscription altogether, and I'll never get any of this year's magazines (the missing one should have been the first since the renewal). If they never answer any mails I guess I'll never know...
stevelap Posted July 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2009 I had a similar problem in May, it took a while but it was all sorted out eventually. I used this email address: lfi@interabo.de It took up to a week for replies to be received though. I had to send scanned copies of invoices and payment details etc, and there was some confusion over my customer number.
psamson Posted July 8, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 8, 2009 I also emailed them. I didn't get a reply, but they got my subscription going again.
plasticman Posted July 8, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted July 8, 2009 This is some weird karma: when I came home, the magazine was waiting for me. So they do read mails. They're just shy about answering them, apparently.
jrh68uk Posted July 8, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Glad you got it in the end. I contacted them a while ago by email because they have my address wrong. It's only out by one letter in the street name and everything else is OK, so magazines do reach me. I asked that they correct it but, sadly, no reply and no correction. The fact that we hear nothing from them is not good customer service at all but I do get mags and a renewal happened automatically recently, so I'm leaving it be. Cheers, Jason
plasticman Posted July 8, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted July 8, 2009 Thanks Jason! Yes it's all very bewildering - a simple answer saying they're on it puts your mind at rest immediately, and ensures your continued understanding and loyalty. I don't remember now whether I eventually got all my missing magazines without needing to buy back copies, but it's definitely the case that every month I have a nagging feeling that the magazine hasn't arrived yet, and things start to get edgy when everyone else on the forum has already discussed the contents several times over. Just answering mails and being courteous would mean that it would never cross my mind to cancel the subscription.
mhoersch Posted July 8, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 8, 2009 So they do read mails. Or this forum? I'm glad you've got it now.
plasticman Posted July 8, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted July 8, 2009 Or this forum? I'm glad you've got it now. Hehe - now THAT would be a fast response!
mjh Posted July 13, 2009 Share #11 Posted July 13, 2009 You could try contacting mjh through a PM.. He may be able to light a little fire... While I am not the official spokesperson for LFI or anything, that approach would have worked, had it been tried … Anyway, there are two independent entities involved here, IDC Corporate Publishing GmbH, LFI’s publisher, on the one hand, and interabo Betreuungs-GmbH on the other. interabo is responsible for all the subscription handling stuff so they should generally be the first to be approached. If that fails, don’t hesitate contacting LFI at IDC Corporate Publishing directly; they will be happy to sort this out. In fact, if there are any issues still unresolved for anyone here they should contact LFI at info@lfi-online.de so the LFI staff can see to that. As you saw above, the issue was resolved without needing to take any further action. If you feel any need to use your influence on this sort of matter, I'd just say that perceived responsiveness to customer problems is as important as actually solving the problem itself. I think I've communicated three or four times about my subscription for some reason or another. As far as I remember, the communication has always been resolved satisfactorily, but because my mails never receive any response, I have time to build an anxiety and dissatisfaction about the magazine subscription that's actually totally unnecessary. Each time this happens I end-up thinking "that's the last straw - next time I won't renew", and then a few days later (or the same day, as in this case), the whole problem goes away. So much angst simply disappears when someone takes the time to write a mail saying - "We're looking into your problem". Thanks again for your advice - I realize that the problem is really not your area at all, and I appreciate your input. Mani

I agree, some reassuring reply would be in order. I’ll get the message across, although it might be interabo in this case – I suppose they are like the little brownies that see to things in the night but prefer to remain unseen.
