Jeff S Posted July 21, 2009 Share #61 Posted July 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) What is it about an image that makes you see the difference in resolution between two pictures? I don't have the luxury of making these kind of comparisons myself, but I'd be interested in knowing what to look for to see differences in lens resolution. Raymond. IMO, Sean Reid does an excellent job explaining resolution issues, and how difficult in real world shooting (human errors, focus, etc) that can mask any real differences. He somewhat reluctantly reports results between lenses (since people endlessly talk about it), but then puts it in practical terms. If you don't subscribe to reidreviews.com (small annual fee), I highly recommend it. Jeff

Wish he'd use something other than Flash but oh well!
jplomley Posted July 28, 2009 Share #63 Posted July 28, 2009 Well, my 24mm experience was not good, and in fact I just sent the lens back yesterday. It had serious back-focussing issues and on a flat surface, the corners were very soft even at f/8.0. So I'm now on the look-out for another copy :-(
jplomley Posted August 7, 2009 Share #64 Posted August 7, 2009 Well, I now have a spectacular copy of the 24/2.8 Elmarit Asph thanks to Jamie Roberts. Hope to post some test results after this weekend.
