What sense does this one have? :confused:RFF is cluttered up with these polls.:( The problem with these things is that you leave out at least half. What about LTM Leica? Zorki? Kiev? Nikon RF? Canon RF? Contax? Konica? etc.... And why?

If you have The M8 Digital, Do you have a plan to buy a Film Camera?

1. No (will buy M9)

2. Yes

2.1 Leica M6

2.2 Leica M7

2.3 Leica MP

2.4 Leica M (other-Old M3)

2.5 Ziess Ikon or Voignlander

:)

I bought the M8 and within 6 months I bought an M3, I always wanted an M3 but never could justify the money, but once I got the M8 as a digital camera that I could use, I got hit by the bug, as I loved the camera and this "reinforced" to me why I was right all these years that "I should have one" so.....I went and bought a beauty, and for good measure a pair of binoculars too. I am a sales persons dream

Mind your own business! I'm with Jaap - what is the point of this?

I agree, the person who decided not to allow anyone here to start their own polls has wisdom beyond his years...

It might be the OP wants to know how many people have bought an M8 as their first Leica and are then interested in buying a film M camera.

Strange to refer to the M8 and "The M8 Digital" and, BTW, it's Zeiss not Ziess...

1) M9 or a second M8 will be my next camera whenever mine fails.

Sometimes I think about buying a M3 or M6. But I guess it is really GAS, not need, or wanting to own a nice vintage object. Going from digital to film makes no sense in my case.

I, like many started with film based M. Well they are all stored in the dry box. Thanks to the marvel of digital photography I'm taking a whole lot more shots, and over the longer run, it's alot cheaper. Next camera... not sure.. perhaps the Olympus EP-1.

I already have a M6, next to my M8.

The poll does not cater for that very real possibility: many of us are (long time) M users.

For me such a poll is frivolous and useless, and my answer proves that - somewhat.

Edit: forgot my little collection of Russian Leica copies:eek: : There we go!

I have M6 TTL, while I am using my Digilux 3 more often. If M9 is a full frame and comes in the market prompt enough, it would be my next target. However, it doesn't seem happening! For the time being, I am seriously considering to buy Canon 5D-II so that I can at least make use of the R legacies.

The Digilux3 cannot hold a candle to the M8 in image quality. No reason to wait, pick a used one up cheap. Or get the DMR and get a quality that is clearly beyond the 5DII (below 800 ISO admittedly)

I have a couple of M2s which I am keeping for backup and because the turnaround time from the UK for any problems is at least two months.

I no longer have a darkroom and scanning has become even more tedious (I didn't think it could be possible) since getting used to M8+Photoshop+SilverEfex+Epson R2880.

I may consider a M9, depending on what it offers. I already own M6, M5, M4, M3 and M2 and have not used any of them since I got my M8, and I am fairly sure I never will.

I put my last roll of Kodachrome in my R8, for nostalgia's sake, and am having trouble finishing the roll. Every time I pick up a camera a digital is more suitable than the R8 with 64asa film for whatever I am about to do...

NO

Period

Sold one M6 years ago, just sold my M7. I've held on to an M6TTL for auld lang syne - but I should probably get rid of it while it's still worth something...

Mark, don't worry. Your question is now clear. The film M that handles most like the M8 is an M7. In my opinion, the nicest film M is the M2, with just the 35/50/90mm framelines and no un-necessary clutter or automation. I guarantee that others will differ!

Whatever you choose, make sure you get one in good condition, and be prepared to pay out for a CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust).

Regards,

Bill

Nope. I'm keeping my film cameras mostly out of nostalgia.

As much as I keep saying I'll shoot another project on film, I just never seem to get around to it.

I have two M8 bodies and would buy a third, or an M9, but not another film body.

Ditto.

My M4 runs just enough film to keep the shutter tuned. And while I only have 1 M8 body, I'll wait for a M9... unless I see a ridiculously cheap used M8 in perfect condition... mmmmm nah... my boat needs new sails and my studio needs a new Epson 9900... I'll wait for the M9.

oh, really? Is the DMR really good at image quality? I heard that it doesn't meet the leica's standard at all... that news really hold me back for years! By the way, there is nowhere I can buy the DMR in Hong Kong now, except the ebay.
