JHAG Posted November 11, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Suddenly, my Sandisk Extreme III 2 Go card displays "Card error" on me D Lux 3. Pictures are not damaged, I could retrieve it through Lightroom, but the camera refuses to read the card. I'm trying to format the card, unsuccessfully from my Mac Disk Utility Any guess anyone ? ceflynn Posted November 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2006 Page 106 of the manual has instructions for formatting the SD card in the camera itself.
ho_co Posted November 11, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 11, 2006 Johan-Frederik-- Is this a relatively new card? I read elsewhere on this forum that there are known to be counterfeit. If it is a real Sandisk card, I think they have a lifetime warranty. You'd need to check with Sandisk. --HC
JHAG Posted November 12, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted November 12, 2006 @Howard : Brand new. It worked perfectly for 3 days. Yes, it's real : packaging, warranty, etc @Charles : Tried this too : no way. My Power Mac was running undefinitely and I tired the formatting in camera with my D2 too. ceflynn Posted November 12, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 12, 2006 You are welcome. According to Disk Utility in Mac OS X, the SD cards are formatted as MS-DOS File System (FAT16). I am not sure that format is one that Disk Utility offers when you erase a device, even though MS-DOS File System (FAT32) is.

spylaw4 Posted November 12, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) 99% probability of being fake. This does not necessarily mean that they will not work ok, but there's no redress if they don't.
