terence fairweather Posted July 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using PS CS2 with my M8.2. I have read that a fair few members are using Lightroom. What are the pros and cons or is there something better I should be trying?

dawnrogers Posted July 4, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2009 Lightroom is a brilliant piece of software, designed specifically for photographers, its very easy to use, it has all the features you need to process your RAW files in to jpegs/Tiffs etc.. You can batch process things if you need to such as white balance, its non destructive, you are not working on your orginal file it makes virtual copies for you to work on and they take up no extra space on your hard drive. You can pretty much carry out all your basic editing in one place, you can also load pre sets should you wnat to add colour tints or effects or you can make your own editing pre sets and save them for use again. You can hop in and out of Photoshop to do things if you want or need to with a click of a button, its also a great library. Its must have really, its easier to use than Capture one although some of capture one features are really good, Lightroom wins hands down for ease of use and results IMHO. jaapv Posted July 4, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2009 Two totally different programs. Capture one is a RAW developer with some editing controls and LR is an editing program with RAW developing embedded, albeit of slightly lower quality than C1. The two programs complement each other. The highest quality workflow is: Open in C1, export as 16 bit TIFF to LR and edit. Although I admit I prefer CS to LR to the extent that I deleted LR from my computer. terence fairweather Posted July 4, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted July 4, 2009 Thanks for the info. I now have a better understanding of Lightroom and C1. Much appreciated!
delander † Posted July 4, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2009 You already have PSCS2 and Capture 1. These will work fine together and Cap1 gives you the best conversion from RAW and ultimately the best tifs to work with. Of course you can also upgrade PSCS2 to PSCS4 for less than the cost of Lightroom. Jeff
