RPS Posted July 7, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted July 7, 2009 ... I might try a tighter crop. Virgil, Thank you for this suggestion. Before posting the original, I considered a crop similar to the one below. I do appreciate how a tight crop alters this particular image ... I used an even tighter crop on a red flower image I posted in "The color series" thread under of the "Other" forum. In the end, I finally decided the more expansive space of the original provided more depth to the image and was a bit more pleasing to my eye. Nevertheless, while I like them both, I do have some difficulty deciding why one might be superior to the other.

MEB Posted July 7, 2009 Share #11 Posted July 7, 2009 That is an astonishingly rich photo. It has a 3D quality to it. I agree with you that the wider view gives more depth and context. Very nicely done. Mark B (East Lansing, Michigan)
RPS Posted July 7, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted July 7, 2009 I agree with you that the wider view gives more depth and context. Aw, Mark ... and I was just growing comfortable with the tighter crop. Now you've got me confused again. Nevertheless, thank you for the very kind words.
