poynterama Posted July 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) An interesting addition to the conning tower of HMAS Onslow, permanently docked in Darling Harbour in Sydney for the National Maritime Museum I've just returned from a few days there and have a heap of photos, so stay tuned for some more! Advertisement Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi poynterama, Take a look here Conning tower. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2009 Sam - A fun shot with very nice composition (the top of the conning tower trying to join the skyline), depth and detail. I think it would benefit from a bit of white balance. Next time we're in Hobort we should meet a Lebrina's.
jaapv Posted July 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2009 I think the idea could be expressed more strongly from a lower viewpoint. Now the conningtower looks like an obstruction of the view, whilst a WA effect with the tower towering (sorry:o) over the observer would make it the main subject. The downside would be that the extra "periscope" would be less prominent, but that again might be better expressed with a longer lens and tighter crop. poynterama Posted July 5, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted July 5, 2009 Thanks for the comments To get the shot I was on the deck of the HMAS Vampire, so didn't have much opportunity to get lower and retain the tower unfortunately!
