Julian Thompson Posted June 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gorgeous car - parked among others at a recent track day at Oulton Park UK. One of those moments when you think you've got the wrong lens on - but in the end that very 'problem' of the 'wrong' lens creates something more interesting than it would have been if you'd had the 'right' lens - if you see what I mean !!! Advertisement Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Hi Julian Thompson, Take a look here Ferrari F430 + Summicron 75 + sunny day :-)). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted June 23, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2009 Julian - Beuatiful crops, and the B&W has excellent tonal range and quality. The carbon fiber in the last image suggests that this 430 is a Scuderia. the three color images could benefit from some post processing -- Red Ferraris should be very red. All I've done to these is increase the shadow slider.
Julian Thompson Posted June 23, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2009 It's funny you should say that - in RAW display in Aperture it looks more like the ones you posted back! When I exported to JPEG it washed it out - any idea if I could change a setting to stop that happening?
stuny Posted June 23, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2009 Julian - I have no idea. Whenever I've used raw I'd convert to TIFF, do adjustments, and then convert to jpeg.
Julian Thompson Posted June 23, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted June 23, 2009 Interesting indeed... I'm using 'export version' in Aperture. Going to read up on that :-) Thanks for all your help!

When I exported to JPEG it washed it out - any idea if I could change a setting to stop that happening? Did you save it to jpeg with sRGB selected? That will boost the colours in any case. Lovely pictures but I agree with Stuart about increasing the satuartion of the reds. LouisB
Julian Thompson Posted July 7, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted July 7, 2009 Interesting Louis - not sure - I wonder if that could be the problem? I seem to be having it on every shot so I'll check. Just about to post up some shots from Goodwood so I'll have a see when I export! Thanks for the help!
Tifoso Posted July 12, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 12, 2009 The carbon fiber in the last image suggests that this 430 is a Scuderia. This is the standard F430. If it were a 430 Scuderia we would see stripes intersecting the Ferrari badge in the 3rd photo as well as different seats. Also, it's obvious that this car is a spyder. The 430 Scud. only comes as a berlinetta. The Spyder version of the car is the newer 16M Scuderia Spyder.
