robert_parker Posted November 9, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2006 Klaus I'm not sure I like this as much as your previous one but the little details like the bird and the unconventional open right side make this an evocative shot - it reminds me of walking in the hills. kld Posted November 13, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 13, 2006 Robert, thank you for your comment. The shot rememided me as well at my walking-tours in the Dolomite Alps. I will dig out and post a very similiar composed shot from there soon. -- Klaus
johnwolf Posted November 13, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2006 Klaus, I like your composition very much. If it were my shot, I'd try a version without the small bush on the bottom right--just to simplify even more. The heavy green also overwhelms it a bit for me. I'd probably try desaturating it a little. But that's just me and my wierd aversion to too much green in a photo. I really enjoy this type of seeing--with its strong emphasis on pure form and composition. John
kld Posted November 13, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted November 13, 2006 John, thank you for your comment. I agree about the small bush. I just did not noticed it though it is so obvious. Here is another shot from another day taken later in afternoon light .. therefore even more saturated :-(, but without the bush. :-) -- Klaus LC1 | ISO 100 | f/8.0 | 1/400sec. | ø70mm | exp. +0.3 | raw
johnwolf Posted November 13, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 13, 2006 The second is also nice, especially the umber(?) color on the left and on the grass tips along the right edge of the path. I do like the softer light and deeper sky and cloud pattern of the first. Maybe you read Freeman Patterson's books about design in photographs, but there's a nice interview with Larry Freeman at Freeman Patterson Interview. I thought of it because he discusses triangles, which are so strong in your image. John
beramos Posted November 14, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great composition Klaus. I prefer the first with the tree in the upper part closing the composition and to weigh of the small bush on the bottom right and mainly by clouds. On the contrary I like much the light of second. I believe that the sum of the two is the perfect photo.
kld Posted November 15, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted November 15, 2006 Bernardo, thank you. I often walk along this way, so the perfect shot in perfect light is only a matter of weather and time. :-) -- Klaus
Guest lykoudos Posted November 15, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 15, 2006 Hello, Beautiful admission. The powerful shrubs, which optical tightness of the way and the view leaves over the edge of way me the abyss to suspect. Kind regards Wolfgang
stuny Posted November 15, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 15, 2006 Klaus - I'm glad to see you experimenting with strong variations on your more normally posted style. This is almost "jarring" in its contrast to your usual further back view, but still very effective. As I mentioned with your longer shot of the brave pilot, I think this is a bit over sharpened.
