First body since 01/2007, shutter replaced and dust under lcd cover, both fixed by Leica one month before warranty expired. Other than that a few lock ups, but nothing serious.

Second body since 12/2008, no issues so far.

mine is almost one year old, 9000 shots from amsterdam to amazonia, i use five batteries

from day one, one original leica, the others cheap chinese ones (4 dollars a piece) and i do

not feel the difference (also not comparing them), no crashes, no lockups, no lines, no spots,

a dirty sensor i clean with a blower and sometimes with a sensor swab (4 times untill now, i

keep the back of the lenses and the inside of the cap as clean as possible with the blower)

i never put it on my desk, staring at it and fearing it may not work the next time i pick it up

because 'everybody' has problems with this camera, for me it just shoots as it should

Hello,

Mine was purchased November of 2006, first batch. Worked better than I expected from the start, with only occasional glitches. Its only service has been the first-batch recall fix, and although it wasn't necessary, I sent it to NJ for an upgraded shutter and framelines. It has been a reliable camera for me for over 17,000 frames.

The M8 continues to be my favorite camera, and I'm looking forward to an M9!

Later,

Clyde

i think the first body which was replaced could only take max 500 too. but my current M8 can get away with 900! given that i also left auto preview on (3secs). i usually use my battery til it goes completely empty.

350-400 mostly, 500 sometimes, is my usual number.
