WOW the C/V 15mm. This thing barely vignets just ever so slightly wide open and it is sharp. These images really look a lot like the DMR. I'm stoked

I had a little bit of battery in there and took advantage of it:D

Okay looking at the images i need to practice on focusing a little better . I think this is normal . Now overall in C1 there is a slight pink cast. But this really is a color managemnt issue than anything else and a WB. Have not got into the problem area yet and the battery is charging just wanted try it. here is my 24th shot I think it was at f2 with the 50 lux. Play image folks , nothing special here

Hi Guy,

I'm really happy that the positive aspects of this camera are coming through to you. I realize that many people don't understand why I still think this is an excellent camera even knowing the problems. I'm looking forward to seeing you post lots of pictures and maybe you'll be able to post some 486 comparisons tomorrow. To be sure, Leica has their work cut out for them but there's no way that I would return my M8.

Cheers,

Sean

Guy

So you HAVE one already!

Great! I havent played (oops, better not use that word) USED a RF for 40 years. I forgothow small, light they are.

BTW, ifyou get any magenta: see the thread I started

simple

Image>adjust>replace color>eyedrop the magenta> 0 the saturation

DONE

it really works. Leica could makepart of C1 like the de moire

or maybe FM should make an action!

:-)

Thanks Sean as we just talked about this, this thing is really really nice , no joke folks. very easy to operate and get the hang of real quickly. i obviously really need to get out and shoot up a storm but looking at the little Artsian bag on the floor in my office compared to a Roller bag is about the nicest think I ever done to my back. LOL

I know we have the issues but at least you can shoot great images with it and get a couple of the filters and get out there.i know Leica will fix our problems but like Sean said to me on the phone i would rather have it than not have it and i agree completely. We will figure some workarounds until the fix is done but for my money , it was well spent . Okay i really need to get some paying work done. You know how hard that is to just wait to shoot this more. :D :D :D

Seriously i am not ashamed to say i am a huge Leica fan but in all honestly this thing does rock the house. And anything that looks like my DMR files and maybe even better than it gets my vote. So let's get on the positive train and figure out the fixes for it to get us out there making art.

Thanks Folks for all your kind comments

Don't jinx it, Guy :)

Serisouly, congratulations, and a cheers to your back (and mine). Try using just one or two lenses first, to really appreciate them.

Guy, congratulations on getting an M8 as last. No way is mine going back, I'm happy to wait as long as needed for Leica to work their way through this.

If the B+W 486 filter works out for me, mine is staying too. This camera is too good to send back. I can't wait to get it back from Solms!

I must say, it is so nice to have a thread of *owners*, loving their equipment. All this firefighting wears you down. I look forward to figuring out all the problems and waiting for the fixes. I saw Guy and others do this for the DMR, now I want to be part of it for the M8.

Guy:

I think you have a color managment problem. All your grass is an odd color, almost like coloured gravel :) The 15mm looks pretty good. Better than it did on film.

Well I don't get my camera today after all. My dealer gave their first cameras away to someone else, even though I was "first in line". I'm a little upset, but I guess it's not the end of the world. Hopefully they will get one for me soon...

Oh...! Peter, not black indeed. Really lovely colour. Great atmosphere

Thank you Jim. I did not think much of this old 4/90 Elmar. It must be some 40 years old and I had very rarely used iton the M3. It was really a test shot to see how my various lenses performed on the M8.

When testing the newly bought Cooke Kinetal 1.8/T2.0/50mm I was agreably surprised. I had bought it from ebay because I had heard some positive comments and it beats my ancient 50/2.8 Elmar and 2.0 Summicron. It is mainly used on motion picture cameras. You can see an example on the thermometer shut wide open on page 1 of this thread. Another lens I am interested in is a 50/2.0T Kinoptik. I have used Kinoptik lenses - which again are known mainly in the Motion Picture industry - on Alpas and am curious how they will perform on the M8.

Cheers,

Peter

I will move forward and as soon as my M8 can be supplied I will take it.

I also spoke to Leica and have enough trust in them.

Even if the filters will be the final solution I can live with it as long as the final Image quality is what I hope (which would be on the sme level as the DMR).

I have to handle many compromises in the real world and just dont believe in 100% any more, so I take a 90% perfect solution and am happy about the 90% I get instead getting angry about the 10% Which can be improved.

I hope filters will not decrease the IQ though since it is an additional piece of glass.

So the thing makes me mad is that I still dont know when I get my sample, I am next on the list though.

Cheers, Tom
