I went for a walk this afternoon. There is a natural drainage near my home and I came across a mother duck shepherding her brood of 6 ducklings. They were walking down the grassy slope to the water. When she saw me stop and take out my camera she quickly shooed them into the water. I had the 28 Elmarit ASPH on the camera so when they came out of the reeds I only got a distant picture. I continued my walk and 40 minutes later I came by the same spot and saw the mother sleeping on the grass. I did not see the babies until I got close with the camera (this time with the Zeiss 50 Planar attached). Mom opened her eyes and a baby got curious and popped out. She was sitting on all six. Processed with C1 Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks for the nice comments. It was a fun encounter with this "family." I should note that both photos are cropped and the first one is heavily cropped (about 100%) because it was taken with a fairly wide angle lens. I think that how well the pictures held up to the cropping is a tribute to the lenses and to the Leica sensor.
