This morning, due to a wrong manipulation, my lens (a Cron 35 Asph) fell on the ground . No apparent damages outside but the lens is 'blocked' and cannot longer focus. I live in Mozambique (which makes things more difficult) but I will contact Leica tomorrow and see if I can send it to Solms for repair. But I was wondering if anyone had similar problem and what could have happened. I hope it can be repaired???

Many thanks in advance for you help/advices!

Fiti,

Sorry for your problem.

In view of price and if the optics is new (2100 E) it is recommended to send it to Solms for repairing.

We are now quick conveyors as DHL or UPS who take responsibility for the transport.

In my opinion, there could be damage indoors.

an useful link

Objectif LEICA Summicron M 35 mm f/2 Asph.

and look at "coupe"

Solms will make a repairing and a complete revision of optics.

First send a mail to service after sale.

Regards

Henry

Yes, I had a similar experience: The whole camera (M6) with a 35-mm Summilux dropped out of a bag and crushed on the edge of the filter in front of the lense. The filter was damaged but the lens seemed o.k.outwardly. Though focussing esp. in the close range was very tight. When i sent the lens to Leica at Solms to have it 6-bit coded for the M8 i didn't tell anybody about this problem (out of bad conscience...)

I got the lense back coded and the focusssing problem was completely gone. The lense can be handled as if it was really new.

So there is good hope, that your present problem can be solved.

This is "standard" behaviour for the lens. The bad news is that you will have to send it to Solms, the good news is that it is usually a fairly simple repair.

Many thanks Jaapv and UliWer for your encouraging replies. I have already contacted Solms...

Cheers,
