dadanagast Posted June 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) would you prefer 50 lux or 75 cron? I'm using M8 and i have 35 lux.. ...i really enjoy 35 lux on m8 but sometimes i want a little bit more longer.. i will eventually buy 21, 50 and 75 for my m8 but i can only purchase one of these right now and 21 lux has to wait for a another year.. ...what i like about 35 lux is very sharp lens and it has fantastic bokeh.. ........ my only concern is there is also 75 summarit which has a much lower price than 75 cron.. how do they compare each other and do you think it's worth the price difference between them?.. thanks.. Advertisement Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Hi dadanagast, Take a look here as a second lens.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scaryink Posted June 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2009 you take a little time to read this forum? These questions have been asked on countless occasions.
Morten Grathe Posted June 14, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2009 I would go in the other direction and move the 21 up as priority 1. I started with a 35 lux, and added a 24 elmarit - works, nice for me.
noah_addis Posted June 14, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2009 I agree, I'd also go wide first. My favorite combo for the M8 is 24/35. But that is a matter of personal preference so if you find yourself lacking in the longer range by all means stick to your plan. I think you'll find the 50 'Lux and 75 'Cron to be similar in performance, so the question comes down to your choice of focal length, and that depends on your style of shooting. tom0511 Posted June 15, 2009 Share #9 Posted June 15, 2009 As a combo with 35 I find too close. I would go 75. I own the 75 Summarit and really like that lens.
Ecar Posted June 15, 2009 Share #10 Posted June 15, 2009 If I had a 35 only, I'd go either for a 21 or a 75, depending on my preferences. 24 and 50 are too close to 35 IMO. If you'd like to go longer, the 75 Summarit is indeed a great choice, with a reasonable (in Leica terms:rolleyes:) price tag. I tested it in parallel with the Cron and the price difference was (at least to my eyes) hard to justify. Alternatively, you could get a bunch of CV lenses at a moderate price, decide which focal length you like best and sell them once you're ready to buy a Leica-branded one. .. Or you may well find that - at their respective price points - some of these CV lenses are great value and decide to keep them after all;)
