gareth_c Posted July 4, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted July 4, 2006 Not so much opportunistic...I waited and waited for a subject!
wda Posted July 5, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 5, 2006 Gareth, if you waited, were you waiting in a vehicle permanently parked? I like the local action and neighbourhood. David
nyrich Posted July 6, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 6, 2006 The natural framing works very well. Nicely captured.

gverdon Posted July 7, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gareth, the unbalanced composition is disturbing, but I still come back to this image... It seems it speaks to me. That's the more important. Better, it's the only thing really important in photography. Gérald
gareth_c Posted July 7, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted July 7, 2006 David, No the car was on the move (on some very bumpy and winding roads). Most of the shots I took were of scenery, but I wanted to catch on of the many overloaded scooters in action! Gerald, Yes, the composition is odd, obviously due to the amount of almost black area (which is in fact the roof of the car). I did play briefly with cropping it but I din't like it as much. Its not eactly the greatest photograph technically so I think it needs all the help it can get to raise it from being a bad capture, and I think the composition does that. marc_dufour Posted July 7, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 7, 2006 Gareth, I think it's a really great spot. You get something we commented in the old forum: To be conscious of the photographer's presence and, at the time, turning the spectator of the picture into a spectator of the scene. Marc PS: I remember Bali with thousands of motorcycles, at the time. To drive there were a very special experience :-)
gareth_c Posted July 9, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted July 9, 2006 Marc, thanks for the comments. As I said before its not the best technically but it reminds me a lot of my experience in Bali and is great from that point of view.
