Hi there, long time no see. Just wanted to post this photo of birds I got yesterday, they are called the read breasted birds, sorry I do not know the name in english. These birds come here every spring, stop for a short while before going on to Greenland where they lay their eggs and then come back on their way to warmer lands i.e. western Europe. If someone knows the english name that would be nice. In latin they are called Calidris canutus.

 

M8 with Visoflex and 400 mm f.5.0. resized and so much better at full resolution.

I was about a 100 meters away or thereabouts. Ths big difference was that I was sitting in my car and the birds appear to be used to cars even though this is not a much frequented road. After taking the photos I stepped out and then all of them flew away. So the lesson is, the car almost works as a camoflage tent.

Lovely for composition, light, color and subject. However, I find the focus too soft, and have sharpened it some, as well as slightly boost highlights and shadows to increase the sense of sharpness without creating too many atifacts.

 

Whenever on safari in Africa we continually see that many animals do not perceive the cars as threats, consider the people in the cars just part of the cars, an dgo about their business as though we were not there.

Nice Stuart, this is exactly what I did when printing it out. Some others I took were sharper, but the really old fashioned Visoflex and non stabilized old lens are a little difficult.
